Test Engineer
Under limited supervision, applies technical, business, and software quality engineering discipline knowledge to perform test activities including the creation and execution of automated tests, estimation, test planning, test case development, risk analysis, test execution, defect management, and test status reporting. Works and collaborates within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Uses knowledge of existing automation solutions, paired with engineering discipline knowledge to provide test coverage of business and system requirements in support of the development and product lifecycle.
- Collaborates with senior test engineering team members and development staff to design appropriate test cases (eg: UI, component based automation, performance, mobile, telephony, etc.).
- Supports service oriented architecture (SOA), database, and programming languages to assist in directing test cases at the point of change (e.g. component, database testing).
- Collaborates and applies existing automation solutions for regression, smoke testing and reuse.
- Applies shift-left testing techniques and continuous integration methods for their aligned domain.
- Works as part of a team on the development of test plans, test cases, managing defects and reporting status through the development lifecycle.
- Prepares and executes system integration, functional, end-to-end, component, regression and acceptance testing of new or modified applications/systems. Utilizes automation technology to streamline test execution. Contributes to the selection of product structure, work schedules, cost estimates and adhering to the defined plan.
- Participates in a variety of quality reviews of customer requirements, system design and user acceptance testing.
- Manages test clients for manual and automated tests, including coordination of browser operating system combinations, software installations, patching, etc.
- Encourages and supports continuous improvement practices.
- Performs holistic system performance analysis and testing.
- Bachelor`s degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Generally 1+ years of professional experience
- Knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies
- Knowledge of a business function(s) and of business operations
- Knowledge of design and testing tools
- Knowledge of test engineering best practices and techniques
- Negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills
- Ability to learn and adapt to change effectively
- Demonstrates general knowledge of development concepts, cloud technologies, and CI/CD concept, specifically how to implement testing automation within the pipelines
- Knowledge of quality measurement; status reporting
