The Benefits Coordinator is the first point of contact for client groups across the company needing HR assistance. This position will manage Human Resource related tasks proactively and with minimal supervision. This position is responsible for supporting the initiatives of the organization by continuously evolving and presenting progressive Human Resource related solutions. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help administer open enrollment
  • Understand obligations as a government contractor, Identify and execute controls for critical risk/compliance issues including training, practices, programs, and guidelines relating to Affirmative Action Plans and Equal Employment Opportunities - proactively plan / prep for audit inquiries.
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries via phone, email, etc.
  • Manage benefits enrollment and changes; partner with payroll and vendors to ensure accurate billing and employee contributions.
  • Administer 401(k) plan; post bi-weekly payroll uploads, update deferral changes, process loans and hardship requests.
  • Conduct new hire orientation, provide appropriate benefits packages.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures assisting both employees and managers with policy interpretation to insure consistent employment practices.
  • Deliver and/or ensure consistent new-hire orientation, data and document collection, privacy protection and employee file management.
  • Update and maintain Human Resource Information, both electronic and hard copy, and compile reports.
  • Process employee transactions/changes including transfers, terminations, exit interviews, compensation / benefits changes, etc.
  • Develop techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Keep apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Coordinator COBRA and ensure appropriate correspondence is sent to terminated employees.
  • Support leave program administration (i.e. FMLA, CFLA, PFL); File short term disability as applicable.
  • Manage Worker's Compensation related reporting including OSHA 300A reporting by developing and following posting procedures / guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree in preferred field of Human Resources, Business Administration or related field strongly preferred, equivalent experience and relative Human Resource training will be considered.
  • 2-3 years' experience to include benefits, HRIS and employment law.
  • Proven knowledge of employment law (i.e. EEOC, FLSA, FMLA and ADA) required.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt and contribute in ambiguous situations that require tact, judgment and minimal supervision.
  • Success working in complex, fast paced, high-growth entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficient with Windows based software packages: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience with government contracts, compliance regulations a plus.
  • Detail oriented with both analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities to anticipate and lead fact based decisions and solutions.
  • Passion for learning and demonstrable personal learning agility.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment, takes initiative, anticipates/mitigates risk and is resourceful.
