We are looking for an upbeat, collaborative, and creative individual who is passionate about the opportunity to direct a team responsible for customer experience monitoring as well as infrastructure and application logging for the worlds largest travel company! The Observability Engineering team delivers logging and metrics capabilities across Expedia Group and its portfolio of Brands.

Your pursuit to deliver scalable and reliable solutions will be important in our mission provide relevant operational insights from logging and customer experience data at enterprise volumes.

 

What you'll do

 

-You're a highly motivated Engineering Manager who is passionate about delivering business value by leading and growing teams. You take a balanced approach to providing mentorship and expectations while simultaneously empowering team members to be accountable and make decisions. The right candidate for this role is a strong communicator and understands the value of customer feedback in making data-driven decisions. You will:
-Lead and manage individual contributors, including ongoing training and development performance evaluations, coaching, recruiting, and disciplinary actions.
-Directly manage a team of engineers and developers in implementing high quality applications to support delivery and deployment of new business functionality.
-Use your systems thinking approach to solve process automation problems.
-Provide forward thinking engineering and release practices, resulting in products and services that are delivered with increased efficiency and stability, lower risk, and reduced customer impact.
-Develop and demonstrate detailed ownership of systems, configurations and documentation.
-Apply agile methodologies and new technology to improve productivity, quality, and system performance.
-Work closely with partners and product management to drive our product roadmap
-Make recommendations on specific aspects of the operating and strategic plans of the function or unit at the next highest organization level.
-Interact with direct reports, customers and peers to share information and improve cross-departmental processes.

 

Who you are

 

-5+ year’s development or engineering experience and 3+ years management / mentor experience.
-Experience with logging, streaming and customer experience tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Kafka, Glassbox and Opinionlab.
-DevOps focus and experience at building high-quality solutions that scale quickly and safely.
-Amazon AWS experience highly regarded.
-Knowledge of technology including Java, Python, Ansible, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, and general containerized methodologies using Docker and Kubernetes.
-Experience with multi-tiered system operations in high-volume, PCI-compliant transactional environments including web, application, and database operational support and services
-Strong communication, interpersonal skills and organizational savvy.
