Position Summary

As Head of Claims, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will oversee a team of nearly 300 globally. Your teams will be responsible for medical records collection and invoice payment to veterinary practices and members. We're looking for a top-tier leader with a strong track record of leading fast-paced, ambitious teams to success. You will be a data-centric, analytical and technologically-minded figurehead with a passion for developing new and improved processes and working cross-functionally. Does this sound like you?!

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee all teams which collect medical records and pay veterinary invoices and work closely with the Data Science and Technology teams which use machine learning to automate a portion of payments
  • Analyze and interpret data, identify trends, and generally use data to inform key strategic business decisions
  • Represent the claims department for Trupanion and act as a true partner with key business functions (namely conversion, member experience, analytics, IT, finance and legal)
  • Work cross-functionally to drive key initiatives such as member retention and conversion through a differentiated member experience at enrollment and at the time of a claim
  • Develop core talent in the claims teams with special attention on individual team growth and fulfillment
  • Utilize technology and data science to drive efficiencies within the claims process, including using our technology advantage to provide third party processing services in the future
  • Oversee an expanding budget with a focus on driving and increasing efficiencies and team fulfillment

Education, Registration & Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field.

Experience

  • 10+ years of team leadership experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of success
  • Experience leading and motivating large teams (with many remote workers), focusing on people development
  • A record of process improvement, particularly in partnering with technology teams to change processes, provide a differentiated experience, and drive efficiencies
  • Deep understanding of change management
  • Data & analytics mindset– experience making decisions informed by data
  • Ability to create and operate within a departmental budget
  • Experience in animal health is a plus
