Program Manager

 

The Program Manager is responsible for coordinating across multiple Expedia teams to ensure the delivery of complex tax and fee; pricing, regulatory, and compliance programs and projects. This role requires the ability to understand all facets of Expedia's business as well as teams and processes across the organization in order to execute effective solutions across the various functional areas.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Ability to lead several projects, with multiple teams, across multiple time zones

  • Work with the organization to define the project scope, resources, track and plan for delivery

  • Lead and participate in all project lifecycle phases including project planning, discovery, development, testing, release, and post-release

  • Ability to identify risks and issues while developing develop contingency plans throughout the project life cycle

  • You will collaborate with internal business teams, affiliates, and users, facilitating and documenting project and communication plans

  • Provide ongoing tax and fee expertise and support while troubleshooting issues.

  • Provide ongoing communication of status and risks to management internally as needed and garner support for changes in scope, schedule, or budget

  • Lead project meetings focused on status reporting, problem resolution, feedback, and fostering open communication within the team on project planning and execution

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of PQC business model and operations

  • Work with several teams across matrixed areas of EG and influence teams to drive accountability for project outputs, on time and on budget

  • Lead communications on project status across key partners

  • Build and cultivate critical relationships with internal partners

  • Help technical and operational teams to problem solve to resolution

  • Ensure stable and efficient execution of all functions across Marketplace and Yield Management by working closely with business partners to drive adoption and implementation of processes and programs

 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

  • 3+ years of project/program management experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in the technology sector

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical acumen

  • Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices & identify what truly matters

  • Bias for results and decision making vital to address bottlenecks, manage critical issues that arise, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and encourage behavior to maximize business benefit

  • Proven record of navigating a complex yet fast-paced organization with a variety of teams working from multiple global locations.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of flexibility and accountability

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills combined with excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Effective listening and consultative skills

  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as dictated by project timelines and demands

  • Project management experience working with agile development teams in a fast-paced environment

  • High degree of competency with project management and methodology including scoping, issue & risk identification, general management, tracking dependencies, user acceptance testing, and communication of overall project status

  • Experience of working with product management teams, including coordination of multiple internal workstreams including development teams, marketing, sales, finance, customer support, legal and analytics

  • Ability to facilitate the resolution of exciting business/technology problems

  • Experience working cross-functionally to drive the high-level solutions as well as resolve lower-level operational issues when needed with experience translating between business and technology

  • Knowledge of travel industry preferred and previous experience with travel technology products and operations strongly desired
