Google is bolstering its presence in Seattle.

The tech behemoth closed on its purchase of 400,000 square feet of office space at the Kirkland Urban development east of downtown, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported Monday.

Google already has 4,500 employees and 2 million square feet of office space in the Seattle region, according to GeekWire, including the existing Kirkland campus it established 15 years ago. The company will open a new Google Cloud campus in South Lake Union later this month.

Google employees will start working at the mixed-use Kirkland Urban property next year. The company currently has more than 150 job openings in the Seattle area, including 129 engineering and technology positions.

Google made headlines last week when it allegedly achieved quantum supremacy, or the act of performing a computation on a quantum machine that cannot be performed on a classical, binary-based computer.
