“I always think something good’s just about to happen,” Pete Carroll told Bryan Curtis in a 2007 interview. And for many of his last twelve years as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Carroll has been right.
His coaching style — positive, participatory, purpose-driven — has long been admired for building relationships, supporting player growth and picking up wins along the way. And while Seahawks news is subdued going into the 2022 season, the locker room culture continues to be bent toward mindfulness and excellence.
Across town at Highspot, the blend of inclusive culture and excellent product wouldn’t be unfamiliar to Seahawks insiders.
“I’ve worked at small startups and Fortune 100 companies, and after seeing what makes these companies successful, I can confidently say that at Highspot it is a unique blend of culture and product,” said Senior Director of Engineering Bryan Pirtle. “We have a set of guiding principles that are instilled in the DNA of the company, and we seek to embody them in every interaction as we go about our work.”
With a strong foundation in respect and collaboration, Highspot employees are enabled to take the risks necessary to build the products that will fuel the future of their work and their customers’ businesses as well.
Built In Seattle spoke with Pirtle about what makes Highspot different and who they’re seeking to join their team.

What they do: Highspot helps sales teams have better conversations with their customers in order to achieve their goals. Highspot’s platform offers solutions including content optimization, performance analytics, training and more and gives sales and marketing professionals deeper insight into their work and performance.
What makes Highspot special: “On the product side, we build cutting-edge AI technologies to deliver differentiated products that make our customers love us. One notable feature is semantic content search that leverages the meaning rather than exact match of search terms to make finding related content easy. Highspot is also leveraging neural net-based computer vision to identify and tie content to where and how it’s being used in actual customer conversations, no matter the channel. Customers love this because it helps them understand which content is adding to their bottom line and which content isn’t.
“Highspot has an incredible culture that fuels innovation, inclusion and creativity at all levels. A couple of my favorite guiding principles are ‘Most Respectful Interaction’ (MRI) and ‘Collaborate Across Boundaries,’ which I endeavor to use in every interaction.”
We are looking for technical experts passionate about these AI challenges to join us.”
High-powered project: “When we think about which capabilities we have here at Highspot that are fueling our work, our ‘inference engine’ comes to mind as one of the most impactful. Inferencing is the AI technology by which we relate our internal data like content to other data from sources like Salesforce in useful ways to provide insights for our customers. This inference engine is a foundational technology that underpins our entire platform of one at Highspot.
“Our ‘inference engine’ helps Highspot customers to answer critical questions that can power their business such as ‘How many deals is this piece of content helping us close?’ and ‘Which pieces of content that I’m sending to or sharing with customers are driving the most sales for us?’ When customers understand this, they know which content to keep investing in and which to scrap. Since Highspot is the home for revenue enablement teams’ content, we’re uniquely positioned to tell the story of how this content is driving business outcomes using our AI-fueled inferencing engine, and we are looking for technical experts passionate about these AI challenges to join us.”
