Microsoft is on pace to have its hottest quarter of acquisitions since the end of 2018.
This week, the company announced it snapped up Bellevue-based SaaS company Movere, which helps customers monitor IT environments and plan cloud migrations, for an undisclosed amount.
Movere was founded in 2008 and has no known funding history, according to Crunchbase. Its leadership will stay on after the purchase, and its Bellevue employees will move to Microsoft's Redmond campus. Remote employees will remain where they are.
The acquisition will make it easier for Microsoft Azure users to migrate existing applications and infrastructure to the cloud service, the company said in a statement.
So far in the third quarter of 2019, Microsoft has bought data security firm BlueTalon, e-commerce marketing company PromoteIQ and Java analytics tool jClarity. All three acquisitions fit neatly with Microsoft’s ongoing strategy to edge out competitor Amazon in the retail and cloud computing spaces.
One more acquisition, and this quarter will be tied with Q4 2018 for most active in terms of M&A since Q2 2018, when the company bought a whopping eight startups.
