Growth has been a recurring theme at PitchBook for Keegan Phillip. Currently, he’s taking advantage of the McKinsey Black Management Accelerator Program through one of PitchBook’s DEI initiatives, an experience he says will improve his skill sets as an up-and-coming Black leader at the company. “This is extremely important to me, as the lack of Black leadership in the tech industry is well-documented,” Phillip said. In addition to this opportunity to focus on problem-solving, strategy and operations, Phillip has also used PitchBook’s education stipend to pay for Japanese language courses.

Historically, finance has been a male-dominated industry. A community like this is an important tool to help foster women’s inclusion, representation and professional development.

Shape company culture

Hilary Wiek has spilled ink on everything from sustainable investing to her own trip to Croatia while at PitchBook. That’s because, while her role requires writing about the complexities of the industry, there’s also space for talking travel in the company newsletter. Furthermore, participation in WIN and leading sessions of the board game club adds to the experience. “These groups allow employees to get out of their pods, teams and departments and form relationships that will help shape our culture, as well as create and smooth efforts to collaborate,” she said.
