About the role 

We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced HR Generalist to join our growing HR department. As the first HR Generalist, you will report directly to the HR manager and be a critical player in successfully scaling our company. You will assist in administering compensation & benefits, designing and supporting career growth and development, scaling and sustaining a positive organizational culture, and facilitating employee performance and engagement. A successful candidate brings experience collaborating with leaders, project managing multiple tasks, and establishing simple processes. 

Core responsibilities

  • Primary point person for employee questions, concerns and guidance on HR matters
  • Assist in policy creation, implementation, and maintenance
  • Oversee all aspects of payroll processing and benefits programs; own payroll for US based employees
  • Owns & organizes the people data in the HRIS for compliance and generates reporting from HRIS and People systems
  • Maintain employee facing People, Culture, & Talent collateral for accuracy and compliance
  • Analyze, report and use predictive people analytics as evidential reasoning to continuously improve the talent KPIs
  • Assist with People projects as assigned
  • Coordinate logistics for new hire onboarding and employee training sessions
  • Promote company’s reputation 

Role progression

  • Within 1 month, you’ll complete a comprehensive and supportive onboarding process to help you understand the product, the business, our core functions, and the employee experience; and you will support the implementation of a new payroll system.
  • Within 3 months, you will own the onboarding process for employees and you’ll start expanding your role to include support payroll activities and the development and optimization of various HR processes.
  • Within 6 months, you’ll facilitate all HR processes, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive HR initiatives to enable the business. 

About you

  • You have 3+ years progressive experience in a software company and/or rapid growth organization in a People operations/HR position
  • Deep knowledge of HR processes, performance management, benefits administration, federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Experience managing multiple projects at once, tracking performance and regularly providing visibility to multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable interacting with all levels of the company, while discerning and managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, able to execute on very clear objectives, with minimal hand-holding or supervision, while reaching out for support as needed from our collaborative team.
  • Diligently curious, eager to engage deeply with our team to understand opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Excited to own and drive initiatives within Syndio that leverage and build on your skills and interests.
  • You thrive in an all-hands-on-deck, collaborative startup environment, and lean into challenges and aren’t intimidated to find answers to questions outside of your immediate area of expertise.
  • Passionate about our mission to advance workplace fairness, and share that passion in your interactions with candidates.

Extra credit

  • Associate degree+ in HR-related field
  • HR Certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.

Location

Our company is currently considered fully remote with the intention to go hybrid and get an office in Seattle where about 25% of our company resides. Until then, the team will often get together for coffee or lunch or after work cocktails to connect in person.
