About the Position

This position is responsible for working with Personal Finance, policy, and ancillary/emerging lines (including our downstream marketplace). The Director of Compliance will be a critical hire, and will enable compliance to effectively participate in Assurance growth strategies.


The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in financial services or insurance compliance or have a transferrable skill set (strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, understanding of compliance roles in financial services) that can meet the company’s expanding product portfolio.



Responsibilities

  • Advising senior executives on compliance requirements for assigned business lines in a clear and concise manner with practical ways (through checklists or otherwise) of implementing those requirements;
  • Developing and maintaining clear and concise compliance policies tailored to our business model and regulations, in collaboration with our parent company’s compliance policies;
  • Development of employee and agent compliance training plans;
  • Partnering with outside resources as needed to monitor new regulatory requirements;
  • Managing and responding to regulatory inquiries and examinations; and
  • Training for business partners team members on regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in compliance or related areas
  • Strong organizational, analytical , and management skills
  • Some background in insurance or personal financial services (mortgage broker and personal loans) preferred
  • Online direct to consumer platform and lead generation experience preferred
  • Demonstrated track record in building strong and productive working relationships
  • Maintains professional skepticism in assessing appropriateness, objectivity and independence
  • Strong understanding of key business risks, marketplace and regulatory environment
  • Previous experience in leading organizational transformation in areas of effectiveness and improvement
