For many, car ownership offers freedom and reliable transportation but servicing your vehicle can be a headache. There are different dates and timescales for when certain parts or fluids need to be replaced and taking it to a mechanic often results in unforeseen charges. Wrench, a Seattle-based company that offers home auto services, aims to take the hassle out of servicing vehicles and it recently acquired a new company to expand its services to more locations.

Through an online portal, Wrench customers can get a quote or schedule service for their vehicle. The company offers an array of services ranging from an oil change to flat tire or transmission repairs. After scheduling an appointment, a Wrench technician is dispatched to service the vehicle at the customer’s home. Apart from repair services, Wrench technicians can also provide vehicle inspections before purchasing a used car as well as towing and roadside assistance.

On Tuesday, Wrench announced that it acquired YourMechanic, a similarly focused vehicle service company. With the acquisition, Wrench will add over 10,000 new zip codes to its service area. In total, Wrench will now offer its services in over 35,000 zip codes and will service more than 20,000 vehicles a month. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

According to Wrench, many people delay servicing their vehicles because they don’t have time to find a trustworthy mechanic and don’t have time to take the vehicle in for service. Wrench solves both those issues by sending a technician to work on a customer’s car without the customer having to leave their home.

“This is a significant milestone for Wrench as it adds more automotive experts to our marketplace and enables us to expand on our ability to deliver the flexibility and trustworthy service that today’s vehicle owner expects,” Ed Petersen, Wrench CEO, said in a statement. “By welcoming the YourMechanic ecosystem to Wrench, we are expanding what was already the largest mobile vehicle service network in existence. This network of highly skilled technicians gives our customers the comfort in knowing they can schedule the service they need, when and where they need it.”

Founded in 2012, YourMechanic is a Silicon Valley vehicle service startup that also offers an online portal to schedule vehicle services and home servicing. YourMechanic has more than 350 technicians in 30 states, according to a news release.
