A Seattle-area company is expanding the city’s enterprise innovation presence following a recent acquisition.

Bellevue-based Apptio helps companies manage the business of IT. With the addition of newly-acquired Cloudwiry, Apptio is expanding its services within the cloud-based application sector.

Serving an array of customers, including much of the Fortune 100, Apptio’s solution structures large amounts of organization and tech-specific spend and operational data. It works to help its clients manage their investments in a collaborative and efficient fashion. Having seen increased dependence on public cloud spend management solutions as of late, the company enlisted the help of Cloudwiry to further its offerings.

Cloudwiry is an Austin-based company that offers automated services to help businesses run multi-cloud estates more efficiently. In line with Apptio’s objectives, Cloudwiry aims to help customers increase productivity, reduce waste and save money, according to Aditya Datta, Cloudwiry’s founder and CEO.

“Cloudwiry was built to automate cloud financial instruments like reserved instances and savings plans so that FinOps practitioners could focus their time on more important priorities and companies could recognize more meaningful savings with better coverage and utilization,” Datta said in a statement.

The acquisition closed in December. As part of the deal, Cloudwiry will no longer operate as an independent company but will instead fully integrate into Apptio’s business. Together, the two companies aim to help a global customer base automate financial and operational tasks in cloud and hybrid environments.

“By pairing Apptio’s market-leading Cloudability with Cloudwiry, we are able to provide customers with unparalleled visibility, insights, planning, optimization and automation capabilities for reservations and savings plans, helping customers deploy the most efficient cloud infrastructure footprint to fuel innovation and meet business demands,” Sunny Gupta, Apptio’s CEO and co-founder, said in a statement.
