Gordian Software Got $25M, Amazon Acquired One Medical, and More Seattle Tech News

While several other cities across the country are seeing a decrease in venture funding, Seattle area startups are still reeling in millions to fund their projects. Last week, the tech scene saw investments in a travel software firm and a multi-million dollar acquisition from Amazon. Catch up on that and more with the Built In Seattle Weekly Refresh. 

Amazon bought One Medical. Online retail giant Amazon entered into a definitive agreement with San Francisco-based One Medical to acquire the company for $3.9 billion. One Medical’s platform makes it easier for patients to schedule appointments, renew prescriptions and more. One Medical CEO Dan Rubin will remain at the helm of the company after the deal closes. Phaidra raised $25M. Phaidra’s AI platform uses reinforcement learning techniques to learn the energy usage of industrial facilities, which allows the platform to better manage them. According to the company, the platform helps businesses produce less energy waste and increase profits. Last week Phaidra closed a Series A round that was led by Starshot Capital. [Built In Seattle]

Gordian Software pulled in $20M. Seattle-based Gordian Software develops APIs that can be integrated into other flight booking platforms, allowing users to find and sell in-flight add-ons like extra baggage, seat selection or priority boarding. The round, which was co-led by Accomplice and Vinyl, raised the company’s valuation to $200 million. With the new funding, the company will develop new solutions for travelers, such as travelers insurance, fare protection, automatic check-in and health screenings. [Built In Seattle]

SeekOut launched a healthcare worker platform. Seekout’s new platform helps healthcare companies find and recruit workers from a large candidate pool of registered users. The platform will also allow recruiters to directly connect with candidates and will have several diversity tools. According to SeekOut, the platform will help with the looming healthcare workforce shortage. [Built In Seattle]

Alpenglow Biosciences partnered with CorePlus. Alpenglow blends 3D spatial tech with the human anatomy to create high-quality renditions of human tissues that can be studied. According to the company, its technology renders images with more data than traditional observing methods. CorePlus invested an undisclosed amount into Alpenglow and will gain access to its 3Deep Imager platform. [PR Newswire]
