About Mood

Mood is a premier online source for legal cannabis products. We are a fast-growing D2C e-commerce brand dedicated to delivering high-quality, legal THC products directly to our customers' doorsteps. We are looking for a data-driven creative strategist and storyteller to help us analyze the performance of our creatives, generate novel insights and work closely with the creative team to make new creatives that consistently raise the performance bar..

The Role

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Creative Strategist to lead and coordinate the ad creation efforts for our paid advertising. In this role, you will not just manage tickets; you will translate hard data into compelling creative concepts.

You will sit at the intersection of the Marketing Team and the Creative Team (both internal designers and external agencies). Your mission is to ensure our paid social accounts (Meta, Applovin, YouTube, CTV, and more) are constantly fueled with high-performing, data-backed creative assets that drive new customer acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performance Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Analyze creative performance metrics (Stop Rate/Hook Rate, Hold Rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS) to determine what is working and why.
  • Generate lasting insights: Understand the human psychology behind the ad elements that are working and apply these insights across creative concepts
  • Develop novel measurement approaches to move creative science forward

2. Strategy & Briefing

  • Translate raw performance data into actionable creative briefs. You know how to look at a spreadsheet and determine actionable follow-ups for copywriters and designers.
  • Develop robust A/B testing roadmaps to 1) iterate on winning concepts (e.g., testing hooks, CTAs, visual styles, and UGC formats) 2) leverage insights to enable new concept development
  • Conduct competitor analysis and keep a pulse on D2C trends to ensure Mood stays ahead of the curve.

3. Creative Pipeline Management

  • Own the end-to-end creative production process for paid ads, from ideation and briefing to production and delivery.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Media Buying team and our internal creative team/external creative agencies.
  • Manage project management workflows to ensure deadlines are met and volume requirements are satisfied.
  • Lead weekly creative review meetings, providing feedback to designers based on objective data rather than subjective opinion.
  • Ideate new creative workflows taking advantage of the latest generation of AI tooling

4. External Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with external agencies, UGC creators and other external partners to source content.
  • Ensure all external creative adheres to brand guidelines and—crucially—advertising compliance standards for our industry.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in a Creative Strategy, Ad Operations, or Performance Marketing role within a D2C e-commerce environment.
  • Ad Fluency: You live and breathe Paid Social (Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts). You understand the difference between a static image, a GIF, and a UGC-style video, and when to use each.
  • Data Literacy: You are comfortable working with data. You understand how changes in creative impact metrics like CPM, CTR, Hook Rate, and ROAS.
  • Project Management: Proven experience using PM tools (Asana, Trello, ClickUp, etc.) to manage high-volume workflows without letting details slip.
  • Communication: You are a translator. You can speak "Excel" to the marketers and "Art" to the designers.
Bonus Points
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience working with a Cannabis, CBD, or regulated industry brand. You understand the unique challenges of ad policy and compliance on social platforms.
  • Content Creation: Basic skills in video editing (CapCut, Premiere) or design (Canva, Photoshop) to make quick iterations or storyboards is a huge plus.
  • Copywriting: Experience writing direct-response ad copy or scripts for UGC creators.
Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive Salary & Compensation package.
  • Comprehensive health coverage through Cigna, with two plan options (HDHP + HSA or Open Access Plus), 100% covered preventive care, strong mental health support, and virtual care access.
  • Dental & vision plans through Sun Life, including 100% covered preventive dental care, generous annual maximums, annual eye exams, and allowances for frames or contacts.
  • Unlimited PTO
  • A chance to shape the voice of one of the fastest-growing brands in the space.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
