Chewy is seeking an Associate Director of Preconstruction responsible for leading all aspects of the front-end planning and estimating efforts across all facility types-including corporate hubs, customer care centers, fulfillment centers, and Rx locations! This role is critical in bridging vision and execution by collaborating with key partners, architects, engineers, and internal teams to develop accurate, scalable cost and timeline projections. This role will bring deep technical expertise, strong relationship leadership skills, and a sharp business mentality to support more thoughtful capital planning and execution.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Base Salary Range
$155,500-$222,000 USD

What You'll Do:
- Lead the development of conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, operations leaders, and external consultants to align designs with budget and operational needs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new initiatives.
- Evaluate and select vendors and contractors during preconstruction phase; participate in bid reviews and scope alignment.
- Build risk assessments and value-engineering recommendations to ensure design and cost alignment.
- Partner with Finance and Real Estate teams to support capital planning and forecasting.
- Maintain and refine historical cost databases and benchmarking tools for improved estimate accuracy.
- Provide strategic insight into construction market trends, pricing, and risk mitigation.
- Serve as a leader with vision in preconstruction standard processes and innovations.
What You'll Bring:
- 10+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction planning roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- Strong understanding of architectural design phases, construction processes, and cost modeling.
- Outstanding discernment with experience supporting capital strategy and investment planning.
- Validated ability to lead complex partner relationships and multi-functional alignment.
- Familiarity with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar.
