This temporary position is located in 3301 Terminal Drive, Raleigh, NC 27604- Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services.
This position is located at the Disability Determination Services (DDS), a Division of the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, NC.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Management Preferences:
Assist with a high volume of clerical and adjudicative support actions to complete in a timely and accurate claim adjudication.
Maintain efficient turnaround of claimant's files due to increased workload demands.
Responsible for adjudicating disability applications under Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Medical Assistance programs.
Responsible for obtaining medical and vocational information on applicants
Evaluating the findings under Social Security Administration disability criteria and preparing determinations and notices to advise the Applicant of the decision on the claim.
Provide clerical support to DDS staff members who are responsible for adjudicating disability applications, including such tasks as mail support, calls to disability applicants and medical records providers, data entry, etc.
Responsible for planning and organizing daily tasks so that deadlines are met and accurate and complete information is provided to internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to exercise attention to detail in work tasks.
Demonstrated experience in switching between multiple tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
