Nuveen is seeking an experienced Alternatives Business Development professional to help accelerate growth across its alternatives platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding market access, developing and maintaining strategic client relationships, and driving capital formation for Nuveen’s alternative investment strategies across wealth distribution channels. This role requires strong commercial judgment, deep investment acumen, and the ability to clearly communicate the role of alternatives within diversified client portfolios.

The alternatives market represents one of the most dynamic and attractive areas of asset management, as investors increasingly seek access to differentiated sources of return, income, inflation sensitivity, and portfolio diversification. This role provides a compelling opportunity to contribute to a strategic growth priority for Nuveen while partnering with investment, product, marketing, and distribution teams to deliver institutional-quality alternatives solutions to the wealth marketplace.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive capital formation for Nuveen’s alternative investment strategies across wealth distribution channels, including wirehouses, private banks, independent and regional broker-dealers, RIAs, and family offices.

  • Represent Nuveen’s alternatives platform with clarity and credibility, articulating investment capabilities, portfolio applications, and client value propositions to key intermediary and advisor relationships.

  • Partner with Nuveen distribution, investment, product, and marketing teams to identify growth opportunities, support advisor engagement, and deliver a coordinated client experience across channels.

  • Provide education and market insights to sales partners, financial advisors, and intermediary relationships on Nuveen’s alternative strategies, industry trends, and practical portfolio implementation considerations.

  • Manage a regional business development pipeline, applying disciplined opportunity management, consultative selling skills, and effective follow-up to convert market opportunities into asset growth.

  • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with prospect and client firms to expand Nuveen’s alternatives presence, strengthen commercial partnerships, and support long-term business growth.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in asset management, investment distribution, alternatives business development, institutional sales, wealth management, or a related financial services role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships, manage a sales pipeline, and drive measurable business growth across intermediary or wealth distribution channels.
  • Strong understanding of alternative investment strategies and their role in client portfolios, including private markets, real assets, private credit, income-oriented solutions, or related investment capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly and credibly to financial advisors, intermediary platforms, RIAs, family offices, and sophisticated investors.
  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, relationship management, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region to support client meetings, advisor engagement, conferences, and business development activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in asset management, investment distribution, alternatives business development, institutional sales, wealth management, or a related financial services role.
  • Experience raising capital or supporting distribution for alternative investment strategies across wealth or intermediary channels.
  • Established relationships with financial advisors, wirehouses, private banks, RIAs, family offices, or other key wealth management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Nuveen’s alternatives capabilities, including real assets, private capital, real estate, credit, infrastructure, farmland, timberland, or related strategies.
  • Experience partnering with investment, product, marketing, and distribution teams to support go-to-market strategy and client engagement.
  • Relevant securities licenses, professional designations, or industry credentials, as applicable to the role and market.
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or investment-related designation preferred.

Base Pay Range: $203,000/yr - $260,000/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
