Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as an AI Curriculum Architect, a pivotal role at the intersection of artificial intelligence, instructional design, and innovation. As the AI Curriculum Architect, you will lead the visionary creation, enhancement, and continuous evolution of our programming & software development curriculum, playing a critical role in shaping how AI is taught and integrated into all of our courses.

You will collaborate closely with our CEO, CTO, and Product Manager to define and execute a strategic curriculum roadmap, aligning educational content with the company's future-focused mission. Your expertise in instructional design and curriculum architecture will drive the design of engaging, effective, and comprehensive course experiences. Through meticulous research and analysis, you will set the gold standard for curriculum excellence by developing prototypes, standards, and documentation that empower our Curriculum Developers to build TechSmart’s curriculum of the future.

In this role, you will pioneer the transformation of curriculum development processes, leveraging Generative AI tools and advanced automation techniques to maximize efficiency, quality, and innovation. Your experience in software engineering, combined with your passion for education, will help bridge technical advancements and educational best practices, enhancing both the curriculum and the supporting platform features.

Responsibilities

The following is a list of primary responsibilities for this position:

Course Roadmap: ​Collaborate with the CEO and Product Manager to develop a curriculum roadmap that encompasses the creation of new courses and the enhancement of existing ones, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic priorities and direction.​

Course Design: ​Lead the research, analysis, and design of new courses, as well as enhancements to existing courses.

Curriculum Architecture: Lead instructional design of the curriculum, including structuring lesson sequences, establishing teaching methodologies, and identifying and defining various lesson activity types.

Curriculum Prototyping: Develop curriculum standards, documentation, and lesson activity prototypes to establish best practices and exemplars for curriculum asset development.

Curriculum Development Operations: Design and implement streamlined, AI-driven curriculum development workflows focused on quality, efficiency, and speed. Serve as the resident AI expert, leading the transformation of existing manual processes to fully leverage generative AI tools and establishing best practices for their effective use.

Curriculum Development: Contribute directly to curriculum asset production as needed, enhancing team productivity to ensure deadlines and critical timelines are consistently met.

Technical Liaison to Platform: Collaborate closely with the CTO to define technical requirements and design platform features that enable effective curriculum delivery and instructional support.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field is required.
  • Master's Degree (Preferred): An advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Curriculum Development, or a related discipline is desirable.

Experience

  • Software Engineering: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on Python, web development, data science or AI applications (preferable).
  • Curriculum Development: At least 3-5 years of experience in programming or software development instruction and/or curriculum development, preferably at the coding bootcamp, college or high school level.​
  • Teaching Experience (Preferred): Experience teaching programming, AI, or related subjects is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Programming Proficiency: Expertise in Python programming, including knowledge of libraries and frameworks commonly used in data science, AI and machine learning.​
  • Web Development: Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including knowledge of libraries and frameworks commonly used for developing web-based applications.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Strong foundational knowledge understanding of AI concepts and their practical applications (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Generative AI and Agentic AI)
  • Generative AI Tools: Experience working with prompt engineering, generative AI technologies and tools.

Instructional Design/Curriculum Development Skills

  • Curriculum Design: Ability to design comprehensive curricula that align with educational standards and strategic objectives.​
  • Lesson Planning: Proficiency in creating detailed lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles.​
  • Pedagogical Knowledge: Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and instructional strategies for high school students.

Reporting Structure and Role Collaboration

  • Reporting structure: This position reports directly to the CEO. This role does not have any direct reports.  
  • Role Collaboration:  Responsibilities will center around close collaboration with CEO, CTO and Product Manager as well as coordination with the Sr. Director of Customer Experience and the curriculum development team. 
  • Not Included in this Role: This role does not involve project management.
