Job Description

The Data Architect for team Model, Map, and Enable, IS Operational Experience, will be responsible for working with subject matter experts, domain engineering teams, and other data engineers to model and build data manipulation methods into a medallion architecture within Microsoft Dat Fabric.

This position will build and maintain high quality performant data products that combine transportation and freight data from our logistics applications and our new logistics platform services into data products for a variety of consumers.

As a Data Architect you will:

  • Develop models and data pipeline to ingest, manage, store, and provision data for our domain data products.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code to ensure the performance and reliability of data extraction and processing.
  • Work collaboratively with other platform architects, infrastructure and application engineers as well as business subject matter experts to build next generation data platform products and services.
  • Build expertise and ownership of data quality for supported domains.

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong customer focus and communication skills with ability to translate complex business processes into technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, computer science, or related field AND 5+ years experience in software development, data modeling or data engineering work 
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ year(s) experience in software development, or data engineering work.
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years technical engineering experience building data processing applications (batch and streaming) with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python, Java, Scala, SQL.  
  • Experience working with Kafka, Spark, Lakehouse architectures and distributed technologies. 
  • 3+ years' experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP. Extensive use datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores, etc.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge or experience in the Transportation and Logistics industries.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric tools and infrastructure.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $165,000 to $200,000

Eligible for bonus.
