The Art Director, Social leads visual design for social media content, collaborating with copywriters to create impactful visual systems for campaigns.
We are looking for an Art Director, Social to join our team. You play a key role in conceptualizing and bringing ideas to life visually. You’ll own the visual execution of campaigns and content across social, paid media, digital platforms, and select print projects. You’ll collaborate closely with copywriters and strategists, but your primary responsibility is the visual side. You think in ratios, understand the first three seconds of a hook, and care as much about visual impact as performance. You will report to the Senior Manager, Art Operations.
This role is open to remote candidates in the United States or Canada, with a preference for candidates in the Eastern time zone.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the visual design of social-first content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms
- Translate copy and strategy into compelling visual systems and layouts
- Design static posts, carousels, paid ad variations, Stories, and short-form video graphics
- Develop visual approaches for campaigns and content series in collaboration with copywriters
- Build performance-minded visual assets with testing in mind (multiple hooks, versions, formats)
- Extend visual concepts across placements, formats, and mediums without losing clarity or impact
- Support broader agency needs including digital ads, email, landing pages, presentations, print, and occasional longer-form video
- Execute visual revisions quickly and precisely based on editorial direction, client feedback, and internal reviews
- Maintain strong file organization, version control, and production standards
- Design with motion in mind. You understand pacing, sequencing, and how visuals translate into animated or video formats
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, fine art, graphic design or related field
- At least 2-4 years of design experience, with at least 1 year of experience working in an agency environment. Pharmaceutical experience an asset
- Experience designing for both organic and paid social
- Strong grasp of layout, hierarchy, and visual storytelling. Strong typographic and compositional skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Experience with Figma and digital workflows
- Ability to balance conceptual visual thinking with detailed production work
- Comfort working through multiple rounds of feedback while maintaining visual integrity
- Strong attention to detail and craft
