Halo is hiring an Assistant Controller for our downtown Chicago office (hybrid). This individual will oversee the financial operations of the company and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and complex environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain financial policies and procedures that ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, reviewing and updating as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide accurate and timely information to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Manage the company's cash flow and investments to ensure adequate liquidity and profitability.
  • Ensure that all financial records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Help lead and develop others on the Accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support on various projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

 Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with FinTech or Broker/Dealer experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Must be an excellent collaborator, able to successfully partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to share complex financial information with non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial software and systems, including ERP systems (NetSuite) and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for partnering internally to improve and streamline processes.
