Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Sourcing Manager to support our sourcing strategy and vendor ecosystem. This role plays a critical part in identifying and developing new supplier partnerships while ensuring existing vendors meet performance expectations across quality, cost, and service.
You will work cross-functionally to drive sourcing initiatives, analyze data, and support projects that directly impact product availability, cost optimization, and continuity of supply.
You will be responsible for performing various duties in a supporting capacity, reporting directly to the Sourcing Manager. Your primary objective will be to assist and contribute to sourcing functions within the organization. Your efforts will be crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of sourcing strategies while supporting the organization's business goals.
This position is remote, but an ideal candidate lives in Grand Rapids, MI or Phoenix, AZ.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Strategy & Development
- Lead and support vendor discovery, evaluation, selection, and onboarding to expand and strengthen a high-performing, approved vendor network aligned with the company sourcing strategy
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align vendor capabilities with product and business needs
- Maintain and update vendor data, documentation, and onboarding processes
Sourcing & Analytics
- Administrative support in various sourcing activities under the guidance of the Sourcing Manager
- Gather and analyze supplier, market, and pricing data to support sourcing decisions
- Develop clear, data-driven insights and reporting to inform strategy and recommendations
- Monitor vendor performance, including quality, on-time delivery, responsiveness, and compliance
Project & Process Management
- Act as a project champion, coordinating across teams to ensure initiatives stay on track and meet deadlines
- Support sourcing initiatives, including new product development and supply continuity efforts
- Track onboarding documentation and ensure timely completion of vendor setup activities
Communication & Collaboration
- Create clear and engaging communications, presentations, and meeting materials
- Coordinate meetings, document key takeaways, and drive follow-up on action items
- Collaborate with teams across Product, Engineering, Purchasing, Design, and more
- 3–5 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain, or a related field
- Experience supporting vendor management and onboarding processes
- Strong analytical capabilities with advanced/proficient Microsoft skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- A consistent work from home environment that is free from distraction, with the ability to manage time effectively while meeting deadlines
- Experience working cross-functionally on strategic initiatives
- Background in new product development is a plus
- Furniture or related industry experience preferred
- ERP experience is a plus
