Location: This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employees are required to occasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes. 

Role Type: This is a full-time position.  

 

About the Team  

AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With 43 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is rapidly expanding its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The cross-functional team consists of professionals with expertise in a variety of domains that are integral to the production of AP Exam content. 

  

About the Opportunity   

As the Associate Director, AP Bilingual Editorial Quality (Spanish/English), you will ensure all AP assessment materials are consistent in style and reflect the high level of quality AP teachers and students expect from the College Board. You should have demonstrated editorial expertise in both English and Spanish and a keen eye for detail, as well as the demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently on tight deadlines, and collaborate with numerous stakeholders. 

As part of the AP Assessment Production team, your impact will be significant. You will edit and proofread AP Exams and instructional assessment resources across 39 courses, applying and helping to shape the AP Exam style. You will work closely with content experts to ensure all AP assessment materials are clear, consistent, and error-free. You will serve as an expert on editorial matters and be accountable for the editorial quality and accuracy of all reviewed products. Additionally, you will play a leading role in shaping the clarity and quality of all 7 AP World Languages’ assessment materials. You will ensure that Spanish-language content is accurate, polished, and aligned with our standards, while also contributing to the consistency and editorial excellence of materials across all AP courses, including the 5 additional World Language courses. 

This role blends hands-on editorial work with collaboration across internal teams and external consultants. You will help refine style, ensure accuracy and clarity, and support the growth of editorial capabilities within the organization. With a strong command of language and a passion for educational access, this is your chance to make a meaningful, lasting impact. 

 

In this role, you will:  

 

Serve as the principal editor of Spanish-language AP Exam content and associated materials, and participate in the strategic planning and maintenance of documentation to support that effort (40%) 

  • Edit and refine Spanish-language assessment content for AP Spanish Language and Culture and AP Spanish Literature and Culture to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our standards 

  • Guide the development of AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature course-specific editorial guidelines 

  • Collaborate closely with course experts and other editors to deliver high-quality, error-free Spanish-language assessment items 

  • Provide input on project scopes and timelines, ensuring timely delivery in collaboration with Assessment Production colleagues and other cross-functional teams 

  • Exercise independent judgment on issues of presentation and style, escalating complex issues as needed 

Contribute to overall AP editorial excellence by conducting editorial reviews of all English-language authored AP courses’ exam questions, test forms, and instructional resources (40%)  

  • Ensure all content is clear, concise, consistent, grammatically correct, and adheres to stylistic conventions established for each course 

  • Partner with course experts and other editors to ensure error-free, accurate assessment items that render correctly 

  • Support the development of AP course-specific guidelines 

  • Verify citations and source information as needed 

  • Use content management systems and authoring platforms to successfully review and produce error-free, publication-ready materials 

  • Perform rigorous "copy-to-copy" comparisons of excerpted passages to original sources to uphold fidelity, accuracy, and accessibility 

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing smarter, more effective editorial practices, including the continued exploration of innovative technologies in editorial processes 

 

Oversee editorial reviews of exam questions and associated materials for all AP World Language (WL) courses (20%) 

  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all AP WL assessment content using expertise in multilingual editing work and expertise in AP Exam style 

  • In collaboration with the Senior Director, AP Editorial Quality, Director, AP Editorial Quality, and Director, Editorial Production, serve as a liaison between external editorial consultants and internal subject matter experts for all AP WL courses, providing clear guidance and feedback for improvement 

  • Apply specialized editorial expertise to the review of all AP WL courses by enhancing resources and guiding and supporting fellow editors through training and thoughtful review 

  • Support the development of course-specific guidelines and editorial resources 

 

About You  

To qualify for this role, you must have: 

  • 4+ years of professional copyediting experience in both English and Spanish; editorial experience with bilingual content, preferably in secondary or postsecondary education 

  • Fluency and proficiency in both English and Spanish, in all modalities 

  • Demonstrated proofreading and editing skills 

  • A bachelor’s degree 

  • Extensive, demonstrated experience in the application of professional style guides in editorial work and knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and the Real Academia Española 

  • Experience editing and working in a variety of content management systems and technical platforms 

  • Strong organizational, time, and task management skills and the ability to move forward multiple projects in concert while meeting timelines, both independently and as a member of the team 

  • A growth mindset and flexibility when working through ambiguity and shifting priorities in a dynamic, collaborative setting 

  • Ability to travel 3 to 5 times per year or <15% to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board Business 

 

Exceptional candidates demonstrate 

  • Equal expertise copyediting in English and Spanish 

  • Expertise in multiple types of editing, including developmental, line, and copyediting 

  • Strong intellectual and editorial curiosity when presented with complex tasks 

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight, while proactively seeking clarification when needed

About Our Process

  • The hiring range for this role is $56,000-$95,000.
