Forbes Vetted is looking for an Associate Director, Commerce Data to lead how data is organized, understood, and used across the business. This role works closely with Editorial, Product, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and BrandSolutions (sales and partnerships)—ensuring that every team has what they need to measure success, understand performance, and identify opportunities to grow and adapt as the media landscape evolves. You'll be a trusted partner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, equally comfortable reviewing an analytics requirements document (ARD) and presenting pacing updates to senior leadership. You'll be the person teams turn to when a project lacks a measurement plan, when data systems need to be untangled, or when leadership needs a clear picture of what's actually happening across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Embed yourself in project planning across Vetted's business units and central Forbes data and product teams, making sure data needs are identified early
  • Own the accuracy and reliability of user-facing data and dashboards
  • Maintain documentation for Vetted's core logic, reporting systems, and data best practices
  • Lead recurring pacing calls with leadership and key stakeholders, translating performance data into clear narratives about progress to goal
  • Own forecasting and pacing across all Vetted business lines, developing clear revenue projections and proactively identifying risks and opportunities against goal
  • Model new business development and partner opportunities, translating proposed deal structures and traffic scenarios into clear revenue projections and ROI assessments
  • Identify trends across business lines and key metrics, then develop and socialize actionable plans to respond to what the data says
  • Design experiments and data solutions to close gaps in reporting and measurability, with an eye toward scalability and long-term capability building
  • Manage and mentor a team of analysts, helping them grow while keeping cross-functional projects moving across competing roadmaps

The ideal candidate:

  • 5-7 years of experience in  eCommerce, particularly as it relates to user journey tracking and  attribution across revenue sources
  • Ability to read, write, and approve technical documentation, including ARDs, PRDs, and TRDs
  • Excellent Looker and Google Sheets capabilities—knowing when to use each to develop a report or dashboard based on the needs of the stakeholders and the data you are working with
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence) and the ability to generate and monitor clean and clear tickets on behalf of stakeholders
  • Confidence speaking up in technical conversations to ensure engineering and product teams are building with the right business context in mind
  • Demonstrated experience owning revenue forecasting and building financial or performance models that inform strategic business decisions
  • Experience managing and mentoring across both technical and non-technical tasks
  • A knack for connecting disparate data sources and seemingly unrelated projects to unlock new reporting capabilities and creative solutions
  • A collaborative working style with the ability to navigate competing priorities across teams without losing momentum or relationships

The annual base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
