POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for analyzing and reporting on commercial data for our sales, marketing, service and support functions and defining metrics, key performance indicators and actionable insights for each function. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide data driven recommendations to optimize business processes and drive overall performance. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Metrics & KPI Development: Define and implement the key metrics and KPIs to measure performance across sales, marketing, service, and support functions, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.

• Data Analytics & Insights: Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of commercial data, providing insights into sales performance, revenue generation, bookings, forecasting, marketing effectiveness, and service/support processes.

• Support Marketing Strategy: Work closely with the Marketing team to provide data-driven insights that improve customer segmentation, targeting, and campaign performance. Help refine marketing strategies by identifying key trends and opportunities.

• Business Intelligence Tools: Manage and leverage analytics platforms like Salesforce, Tableau, and others to build, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and visualizations that are tailored to the needs of business stakeholders.

• Forecasting & Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate forecasting models for revenue, sales pipeline, and bookings, ensuring timely and insightful reporting for senior leadership.

• Commercial Performance Analysis: Continuously analyze commercial activities and performance data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve processes and drive better outcomes.

• Service & Support Process Analytics: Analyze internal service and support processes, identifying areas for improvement that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

• Process Optimization: Continuously refine data collection and analysis processes to improve accuracy, timeliness, and the actionable nature of insights.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Analytics, Life Sciences, or a related field. 

• A minimum of five years of experience in business analytics, commercial operations, or business intelligence within a life sciences or related industry. 

o Previous experience working in a solo or small team environment is beneficial.

• Experience in life sciences or a related field, with familiarity in commercial operations.

• Experience working with marketing teams and providing insights to support marketing campaigns, customer segmentation, and targeting strategies.

• Experience with ERP, CRM systems, and customer engagement platforms (Salesforce, SAP, etc.).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong proficiency with analytics platforms such as Salesforce, Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA,) Tableau, Qualtrics and other BI tools, with experience in building dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making.

o Advanced analytical skills (e.g., predictive analytics, statistical modeling) and familiarity with machine learning techniques preferred.

• In-depth understanding of commercial operations, including sales, marketing, revenue generation, forecasting, and service/support processes.

• Proven ability to analyze large datasets, derive actionable insights, and influence business decisions based on data-driven evidence.

• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to define key metrics and KPIs that align with business goals and drive commercial performance.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex data insights in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.

• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to independently handle multiple tasks and deliver results within timelines.

• Strong business acumen, negotiation and mediation skills, as well as a demonstrated attention to detail and a focus on achieving quality outcomes.  Ability to build/foster relationships. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is typically performed at a home or office environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $131,600. to $205,700. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
