The Associate Director, Procurement & ESG will lead procurement operations integrated with sustainability initiatives, focusing on cost efficiency, vendor management, and ESG compliance across the organization.
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Associate Director, Procurement & ESG to lead and integrate procurement operations while incorporating sustainability initiatives across the organization. This role is central to driving cost efficiency, optimizing vendor relationships, and ensuring procurement strategies that align with both business goals and sustainability objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in procurement leadership, vendor management, cost optimization, and operational excellence, while also having a strong understanding of ESG considerations in a fast-paced environment.
Procurement Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive company-wide procurement strategy that supports business growth, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Oversee the entire procurement process, ensuring consistency, compliance, and scalability across all functions.
- Cost Management and Risk Mitigation: Analyze spending data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate pricing risks, and drive continuous cost optimization initiatives. Implement risk management practices to ensure continuity of supply and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders during monthly Finance and leadership meetings to discuss upcoming renewals, savings forecasts, and budget impact.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors and suppliers, ensuring the company achieves favorable terms, high service levels, and innovative partnerships. Lead contract negotiations for high-value contracts and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Monitor and manage supplier performance, fostering long-term, value-driven relationships.
- Process Optimization and Technology: Drive procurement process improvements through automation, technology, and the application of best practices.
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize procurement tools and ERP systems to enhance efficiency, reporting, and overall effectiveness.
ESG Responsibilities:
- ESG Strategy & Implementation:
- Develop and implement ESG strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Drive ESG initiatives, ensuring integration across business functions.
- Monitor emerging ESG trends and regulations to enhance company policies.
- ESG Reporting & Compliance
- Lead the preparation of ESG reports, disclosures, and regulatory filings (e.g., TCFD, GRI, SASB, CSRD).
- Ensure compliance with ESG-related policies and global sustainability frameworks.
- Maintain transparency in ESG performance by developing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, investors, and sustainability teams.
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as regulators, NGOs, and ESG rating agencies.
- Represent the company in industry forums, working groups, and conferences
- Risk Management & Governance
- Identify and mitigate ESG risks while aligning with corporate risk management strategies.
- Support the development of ESG governance structures and policies.
- Ensure board and executive leadership are informed of ESG priorities and regulatory changes.
- Sustainable Business Practices
- Drive sustainability initiatives across operations, supply chains, and investments.
- Support climate risk assessments, carbon footprint reduction efforts, and social impact programs.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to integrate ESG factors into decision-making.
Qualifications and preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA) or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPP) is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in procurement, ideally within a technology or high-growth environment.
- Expertise in vendor negotiation, strategic sourcing, contract management, and procurement strategy development.
- Proven success in driving procurement process optimization, cost savings, and operational improvements.
- Strong understanding of sustainability and ESG principles as they relate to procurement.
- Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive, Oracle), and ESG platform Watershed; experience with automation solutions is a plus. Familiarity with JIRA is preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive business outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing large budgets and complex procurement needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Impeccable integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
- ESG risk assessment and materiality analysis experience.
- Familiarity with ESG rating agencies and investor expectations.
- Experience in climate strategy, carbon accounting, or social impact initiatives.
- Knowledge of sustainable finance and responsible investment principles.

Compensation varies depending on factors that may include a candidate’s relevant experience, education and/or certifications, location, training, and other skills. Positions are eligible to participate in either our employee bonus program or commission payments, depending on the nature of the role.
