This position serves as a scientific differentiator in the BioPharma market supporting client goals by directing them to solutions from JAX Mice, Clinical and Research Services. This highly visible position offers voice of customer feedback to diverse internal stakeholders to improve product and service offerings. This position represents the global interests of scientific accuracy and animal welfare, thus laying the foundation for customer brand loyalty and furthering the non-profit Mission of The Jackson Laboratory.

The candidate hired into this role will work remotely but must be available for domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time.

Key Responsibilities (What you contribute):

  • The levels are distinguishable by proficiency in problem solving, depth of specialized knowledge, complexity of projects, technical sales contributions, amount of supervision required vs amount of training offered to more junior members of the team or in their areas of subject matter expertise, and amount and quality of interaction with key internal stakeholders.
  • ATISC is the entry level position whose focus is on supporting existing core mouse products and cohort generation services such as model selection, practical hands-on use (common phenotypic and health characteristics of high-volume strains, genotyping, breeding schemes), technical troubleshooting, basic conflict resolution, colony management services, surgical, necropsy, and preconditioning services.
  • Respond to basic, transactional pre- and post-purchase inquiries from Academic and BioPharma customers in a professional and efficient manner, demonstrating detailed understanding of the scientific basis of product and service offerings, troubleshooting orders or experiments, and liaising with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and provide voice of customer feedback. This includes direct customer communication verbally by phone or teleconference, in writing, and in person events.
  • Deliver educational presentations, virtually and traveling in person, about educational resources, products, and services available from JMCRS. This includes reading scientific literature and training from internal experts to speak authentically about the content and modifying it to suit the audience's needs.
  • Acquire technical sales skills and share responsibility in revenue generation. This includes keeping accurate records of customer's scientific needs and providing the sales team with appropriate contextual information about need, what solutions JMCRS might address this need, and the customer's role in seeking this information.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include basic process improvements, interdepartmental projects, and leadership opportunities.
  • Available for domestic and International travel up to 25% of time, includes occasional nights and weekends

The salary range is $56,538 - $94,658. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in biomedical sciences and related disciplines which use the mouse as a model organism required.
  • Knowledge and expertise around iPSC cell culture, oncology, immunology, and autoimmune disease. 
  • Scientific: Ability to understand and be naturally conversant in a customer’s scientific goals, including in-depth understanding of research methods; experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis; current topics in biomedical research; and mouse genetics.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: exquisite attention to detail communicated verbally and in writing, situational awareness, emotional intelligence, and self-control, so as to represent our organization in a professional manner.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution: understand and analyze customer data, gather information from various computer databases to validate assumptions, and offer solutions that will address both the customer's immediate concern and anticipate the customer's deeper, sometimes unspoken, needs.
  • Presentation and teaching skills: Ability to develop presentations and effectively convey educational information to a variety of audiences in the biomedical field including scientists, technicians, and procurement.
  • Teamwork: Ability to operate in partnership with others, identifying and honoring shared goals. Demonstrate commitment to creating a high-performance culture and positive work environment. Includes improving the customer experience, coping with and supporting change, and favoring solution-driven approaches
  • Computer: ease of maneuvering between multiple databases to find information, identify inconsistencies, and summarize information accurately; use Microsoft Office products and customer management software for accurate record keeping and communication internally and externally.
