About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AWS DevSecOps Engineer to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. We're looking for a well-rounded team member to design and configure cloud native platforms and services as well as establish, monitor, automate, optimize and maintain DevSecOps components such as the CI/CD pipelines. We have multiple projects requiring the AWS DevSecOps expertise which require our Engineers to help manage and ensure optimal performance of major application and integration platforms for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Strong working knowledge of both AWS GovCloud Engineering and DevOps principles is critical in this role.
The successful candidate will be responsive, have great attention-to-detail skills coupled with ability to design cloud systems with forethought and a talent to quickly analyze and troubleshoot issues and provide prompt resolution. In addition the candidate will be adept at using various AWS monitoring solutions and provide oversight to manage code quality tracking for various applications using automated tools . RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and ensure near 100% uptime for API integration platform for the customer adhering to Service Level Agreement expectations
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters, leveraging Amazon Controller for Kubernetes (ACK) and Service Mesh technologies to support microservices architectures.
- Design, implement, configure, deploy and monitor AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, Route 53, CloudFormation, ECR, ECS, EKS, etc)
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, ensuring consistency and scalability.
- Deliver cloud native DevSecOps automation through Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Helm, Argo Rollouts etc.
- Implement cloud monitoring tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch and CloudTrail, integrate them into the customer’s DevOps processes, and optimize the cloud solution based on the results of such monitoring
- Develop, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Manage application secrets and sensitive data using Vault, ensuring secure deployment pipelines and compliance with security best practices and improving the security posture
- Integrate CodeClimate for continuous code quality tracking and collaborate with development teams to uphold high standards
- Implement AWS services to improve security posture, in alignment with the customer’s DevSecOps processes.
- Document aspects of the AWS environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer.
- Minimum Two(2) years experience with AWS monitoring and management tools like Datadog, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Config, and AWS Systems Manager for tracking the performance and health of applications and services
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with CI/CD pipeline creation and management using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
- Solid experience managing Kubernetes environments, including deployment, scaling, and securing clusters, with exposure to Amazon Controller for Kubernetes (ACK) and Service Mesh solutions.
- Proficiency in key AWS services such as Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), and CloudFormation
- Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation.
- Candidates will need to obtain Security Clearance of Public Trust once hired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with managing integrations between Salesforce applications in AWS is a plus
- Experience managing API or integration platforms in AWS.
- Good understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP) and security best practices.
- Experience with progressive deployment strategies (blue-green, canary deployments).
- Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, API Gateway).
- Experience working with cloud security scanning tools and applying remediations
- Experience with CodeClimate
- AWS Certifications - AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional (preferred) and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
