We're a high-energy, impact-driven team, with a long track record of academic excellence. Our team includes researchers whose work has shaped the field—earning best paper awards at top AI conferences and even ranking among the most cited scientists in history of science. We've built fundamental, transformative research that has redefined the community, and now, we're here to change the world—one breakthrough at a time.

What We're Looking For & Why Join Us

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer – Product / AI Applications who loves working at the intersection of advanced AI and real-world product experiences. Your focus will be on building AI-powered product features that leverage foundation models—from prompt engineering to productionizing agent workflows—so that complex model capabilities translate into intuitive, reliable user-facing experiences. This is your chance to bridge cutting-edge AI with practical applications at scale.

What do we expect?

Must have:

  • Strong experience in prompt engineering best practices across models

  • Familiarity with engineering production AI systems using client/server architectures and relational databases

  • Ability to build reliable, scalable services that connect AI models with user-facing products

  • Comfort balancing rapid experimentation with engineering rigor in production systems

Nice to have:

  • Experience building AI agent applications and ability to adapt quickly to proprietary models.

  • Knowledge of modern AI techniques and their pitfalls (e.g. RAG, prompt caching, context truncation, jailbreaking, CoT, etc).

  • Exposure to observability, evaluation, or safety systems for AI applications

  • Background in full-stack or frontend work to accelerate product development

Compensation & Benefits

$150K – $250K + Equity

We offer health benefits, a 401(k) plan, and meaningful equity—because we believe top talent should be supported, secure, and fully invested in the future we’re building together.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
