Role Overview

The Business Analyst will act as a key bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex investment and accounting requirements into actionable functional specifications. This role requires strong business and systems analysis capabilities, combined with deep hands-on experience in Advent Geneva, to support investment accounting operations, system implementations, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Engineering

  • Gather, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements for investment accounting systems, with a focus on Geneva-based workflows and processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements align with business objectives and regulatory needs.

Systems & Geneva Platform Analysis

  • Perform gap analysis (As-Is vs To-Be) across existing systems, with emphasis on Geneva system capabilities and limitations.
  • Analyze and document Geneva configurations, data structures, and processing flows (portfolios, transactions, valuations, etc.).
  • Ensure system designs align with Geneva best practices and investment accounting standards.

Process Mapping & Optimization

  • Develop detailed process flows (As-Is and To-Be) for investment accounting operations within Geneva environments.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and automation in Geneva-supported workflows.

 Technical Liaison

  • Act as an interface between business, technology, and Geneva support teams.
  • Provide clear functional specifications and ensure accurate implementation of Geneva-related enhancements, integrations, and reports.

Geneva Product Expertise

  • Leverage strong hands-on knowledge of Advent Geneva for: 
    • Portfolio setup and maintenance
    • Investment accounting processes
    • Data validation and reconciliation
    • Configuration of accounting rules and structures
  • Support RSL/RDL reporting, customization, and validation.
  • Assist in data migration and system upgrade initiatives involving Geneva.

Testing & Validation

  • Define and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios specifically for Geneva processes and outputs.
  • Validate system outputs, including reconciliations, reports, and accounting entries against expected business results.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Utilize SQL and reporting tools to extract, analyze, and validate Geneva-driven financial data.
  • Support audit, reconciliation, and reporting processes tied to investment accounting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Geneva Expertise (Mandatory)

  • Strong hands-on experience with Advent Geneva investment accounting platform
  • Experience with: 
    • Portfolio setup and maintenance
    • Transaction lifecycle processing
    • Accounting rules configuration
    • RSL/RDL reporting
  • Understanding of Geneva data structures and reporting framework

Business & Systems Analysis

  • Proven experience in: 
    • Requirements gathering
    • Stakeholder management
    • Functional and technical documentation
  • Strong analytical skills to translate complex business problems into system solutions

Technical & Data Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation
  • Understanding of system integrations (APIs, ETL processes)
  • Ability to interpret system architecture and data flows involving Geneva

Investment Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of investment instruments: 
    • Equities
    • Fixed Income
    • Derivatives
    • FX
  • Good understanding of investment accounting principles and reconciliation processes

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively bridge finance, operations, and technology teams
 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within:
    • Asset Management
    • Hedge Funds
    • Fund Administration
  • Knowledge of:
    • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in Agile and Waterfall environments
    • Data visualization or reporting tools related to investment platforms


Compensation, Benefits and Duration

Minimum Compensation: USD 37,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 132,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
Medical, vision, and dental benefits, 401k retirement plan, variable pay/incentives, paid time off, and paid holidays are available for full time employees.
