Since 2017, Flourish has been on a mission to help financial advisors evolve from holistic advice to holistic implementation to more fully serve their clients and achieve better outcomes. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors can’t easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.

Today, we work with over 1,000 RIAs that collectively represent more than $2.6T in assets under management across two products — Flourish Annuities and Flourish Cash — and with our recent acquisition of Sora Finance, we’ll be adding a lending offering in 2026. Headquartered in New York City, we are an independently-operating, wholly-owned subsidiary of MassMutual Life Insurance Company.

Read on if you are interested in joining a small, highly-collaborative, rapidly-growing startup—backed by the support and stability of a Fortune 500 company.

About You

You have a passion for finance, technology and sales. You are a skilled communicator, both verbally and in writing, and you enjoy explaining complex topics in a concise, clear and engaging manner. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and jump in, but you are most excited to train, mentor, and manage a growing team of BDRs.

You are excited to join a fast-paced, financial technology startup, and are motivated by the prospect of contributing to our sales efforts. You always take the initiative, have an execution-oriented mindset, and you are comfortable managing multiple concurrent work streams.

About the Role

Flourish is looking to hire a Business Development Manager to lead, manage, and develop a small but growing team of Business Development Representatives. You will be highly involved in the day-to-day activities of the business development representatives, including setting goals, tracking performance metrics, and providing training and support, and work collaboratively with the Head of Business Development to set strategy and goals for the business development organization. You’ll work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, relationship management, and overall Flourish leadership on everything from team goals to systems and processes to pipeline contribution, recognizing your team’s efforts plays a critical role in our overall go-to-market efforts.

  • Recruit, hire and onboard new team members in a scalable and efficient manner
  • Set individual and team goals based on strategic priorities of the broader team, in collaboration with sales management
  • Partner with marketing on lead generation, scoring, nurturing, content, and outbound campaign support
  • Provide summary reports to sales management and Flourish leadership regarding key metrics
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience
  • 1+ year in sales management
  • 3+ years of related sales experience
  • Demonstrated track record of success in outbound sales activity, including both call and email outreach

  • Either have a Series 63 or willingness to get a Series 63 within 90 days of joining
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring, and motivational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of cold outreach strategies (phone/email/social) and modern sales tools (e.g., HubSpot, Outreach, etc.)
  • Metrics- and process-driven, with strong organizational and analytical abilities and proficiency in CRM systems
  • Due to the nature of this position, as part of the background check process, candidates must be able to pass a fingerprint background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRA. For roles requiring registration, additional regulatory screenings may apply, including a review of Form U5 disclosures and other relevant licensing information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interest in finance and technology
  • Experience selling to wealth managers or experience at a wealth management firm
  • Experience working as part of a fast-moving team with minimal guidance
  • Highly comfortable with technology, both personally and professionally
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, both internally and externally

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
