Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Operations Analyst to support Clinical Operations through contract management, financial planning, and data analysis. This role serves as a key liaison between FP&A, Procurement, Suppliers, Clinical Operations, and Vendor Management teams.
This is a hybrid remote and office based role that will require 2 days in office in Cambridge US location or Philadelphia US location.
Key Accountabilities:
Contract & Purchase Order Management- Partner with FP&A, Procurement, Suppliers, and Clinical Operations to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely contract and purchase order creation
- Collaborate with Clinical Portfolio Management Vendor Management to enter contracts, track purchase orders, and manage change orders for Functional Service Provider (FSP) engagements
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and tracking systems for all contractual agreements
- Support the Clinical Business Operations team with budget development, forecasting, and long-term planning activities
- Generate variance analyses for projects, identifying trends and potential issues
- Provide decision-making support through data-driven insights and recommendations
- Develop forecasting models and scenario planning tools (e.g., what-if analyses, budget impact assessments)
- Create and distribute regular reports including:
- FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) reporting
- Financial variance reports
- Custom ad-hoc reports as needed
- Ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness to support business decisions
- Lead or contribute to data mapping projects supporting transitions to new databases and tracking systems
- Maintain data integrity across multiple platforms and systems
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Clinical Business Operations function
- Maintain focus on delivering value-add services relating to resource planning and financial planning
- Recommend and implement best practices for operational excellence
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in business operations, financial analysis, or related role within the clinical research industry
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Experience with contract management and procurement processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
- Knowledge of FSP engagement models
- Experience with ERP systems and financial planning software
- Project management experience
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)
