Job Description

The Segment Manager supports the development and execution of a defined market segment within MCG’s existing markets of influence. This role blends electrical technical knowledge with commercial execution, focusing on supporting market analysis, advancing opportunities, and driving individual sales within the assigned segment.

Accountabilities

  • Support the development and execution of market segment plans aligned with MCG’s product offerings, technical capabilities, and geographic footprint.
  • Assist in evaluating engineered power system solutions, with emphasis on low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including ANSI 1551, UL 891, and medium voltage applications.
  • Participate in market analysis within MCG’s markets of influence, including customer segmentation, competitive positioning, and application mapping.
  • Support analysis of the potential available market (PAM) and total available market (TAM) for assigned product lines and customer groups.
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities within the segment through direct customer engagement and collaboration with sales and engineering teams.
  • Manage individual sales activities, including opportunity development, proposal support, and order closure, to contribute to segment revenue goals.
  • Coordinate with estimating, engineering, operations, and procurement to ensure proposed solutions are technically appropriate and commercially aligned.
  • Support assigned sales representatives or account executives, when applicable, through technical assistance, opportunity qualification, and execution support.
  • Track and report on pipeline activity, bookings, and market feedback for the assigned segment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of segment strategies, tools, and internal processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Metrics

  • Attendance & Punctuality: Maintain 97% attendance rate with minimal tardiness.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Receive positive feedback from team leaders or operators on responsiveness and attitude.

Supervisory Requirements

  • Directly manages, coaches, and develops a team of professionals.
  • Responsible for workload prioritization, performance management, and team development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution, switchgear, or engineered power systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, including low and medium
  • Experience in technical sales, applications engineering, estimating, or market support roles preferred. Prior experience in market development, segment leadership, or sales management preferred.
  •  voltage applications.
  • Ability to understand and support engineered solutions from both technical and commercial perspectives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency with standard business software, including MS Office, Excel, CRM platforms, and presentation tools.
  • Ability to travel ~50%.
