About the Job
Keeper Security is seeking a technically fluent, strategic, and highly analytical Chief of Staff to partner directly with our Chief Technology Officer in scaling the technical organization, driving engineering productivity, and aligning cross-functional initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience in or deep familiarity with software development and engineering practices. You should be able to read and understand code, speak the language of engineers, and comfortably engage in technical conversations. Your ability to combine that fluency with business insight and operational excellence will be critical to your success.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CTO to drive strategic initiatives, track progress on OKRs, and ensure alignment across the technical leadership team
- Lead and optimize CTO office operations, including meeting cadences, decision workflows, follow-ups, and documentation to ensure the org runs smoothly
- Consolidate and synthesize engineering, product, and security metrics into concise dashboards and briefings for executive-level consumption
- Act as a liaison between the CTO’s organization and other internal departments (e.g., Product, Security, Customer Success, People) to align initiatives and resolve blockers
- Draft technical updates, board prep materials, and strategic briefs on behalf of the CTO
- Support or lead special programs such as architecture modernization, incident response reviews, innovation cycles, or technical offsites
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve team processes, including org design, hiring coordination, and scaling rituals
- Support team growth and culture efforts by partnering with Engineering and People teams on hiring, onboarding, DEI, and recognition initiatives
- 5+ years in strategic, operational, or technical roles in a technology-driven company.
- Hands-on coding experience, or strong familiarity with software development and engineering workflows. Ability to read and understand code is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of software engineering processes, agile development, and product life cycles.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
- Experience with metrics, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making in a technical organization.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across functions and levels of seniority.
- Willingness to operate in a hybrid work environment, with regular collaboration from both the Chicago and El Dorado Hills offices, and international travel as needed (up to 25%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cybersecurity, SaaS, or highly regulated industries.
- Experience scaling globally distributed engineering teams.
- Strong working knowledge of secure development practices and DevOps workflows.
- Experience supporting executive communication and board-level reporting.
