The Hartford's Employee Benefits Group is seeking a customer-focused and strategic Client Relationship Manager (CRM) to serve as the primary relationship leader for a diverse portfolio of either Regional or National Account clients. In this highly visible role, you will partner with customers, brokers, Sales Executives, Underwriters, and internal business teams to deliver exceptional service, drive customer satisfaction, support retention and growth objectives, and ensure the successful execution of employee benefits programs.


  • Manage and retain a defined book of Regional or National Account customers through proactive relationship management, strategic account planning, and ongoing service support.
  • Serve as the primary customer and broker advocate, coordinating issue resolution and solutions across internal partners such as underwriting, claims, billing, implementation, enrollment, and tax services.
  • Build trusted consultative relationships with customers and brokers by understanding business changes, workforce trends, benefits strategies, and service needs.
  • Lead customer engagement through business reviews, client consultations, plan administration discussions, renewal support, and regular communication on service standards and administrative requirements.
  • Partner with sales Executives, Underwriters, Client Consultants, and Voluntary Sales teams to support retention, profitability, premium growth, cross-sell opportunities, and renewals.
  • Support implementation and onboarding activities, including welcome calls, customer training, employer portal onboarding, and voluntary benefit enrollment coordination.
  • Identify process improvements that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Support finalist, pre-sale, and prospect meetings by demonstrating service capabilities and contributing to tailored customer solutions.
  • Requires group employee benefits experience, strong communication and relationship management skills, collaboration across stakeholders, licensing/designation requirements, and ability to travel as needed.


Qualifications


•3+ years of experience of Group Employee Benefits, supporting and managing client relationships in account management, customer success, client service; exposure to account management, sales, or underwriting is preferred.

•Experience supporting Regional and/or National Account customers of varying sizes and complexity levels preferred.

•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, build strong client relationships, and resolve complex service issues.

•Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and consultative relationship management skills.

•Ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external stakeholder groups.

•Group Life & Health License required based on assigned book of business; ongoing continuing education requirements must be maintained.

•Group Benefits Disability Specialist designation required within one year of hire.

•Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this role participates in an incentive compensation plan that pays throughout the year, providing ongoing opportunities to earn additional rewards based on individual and business performance.

 

This position may be filled as Hybrid or Remote. Candidates located near a Hartford office location will be expected to work in the office three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote employees may be required to travel to an office location or customer site based on business needs.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$88,560 - $132,840

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
