About Particle41

Particle41 is a software engineering and cloud consulting firm that helps organizations modernize platforms, scale cloud infrastructure, and build secure, high-performing systems. Our teams work across application development, DevOps, cloud architecture, and data—partnering closely with clients to deliver outcomes, not just code.

We value engineers who are curious, pragmatic, and comfortable owning systems end-to-end in real production environments.

Role Summary

Particle41 is seeking a Cloud Engineer (Full Stack) with strong AWS expertise and hands-on development experience to design, build, and operate cloud-native solutions for our clients.

In this role, you will work across infrastructure, application code, security, and CI/CD—helping clients build scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure systems in AWS. You’ll be expected to contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through deployment and ongoing support.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, and deploy cloud-native and serverless applications on AWS

  • Leverage AWS services and APIs to implement scalable, resilient architectures

  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, automated deployments

  • Participate in planning, requirements definition, development, testing, and quality assurance

  • Manage and support multi-account AWS environments, including networking, compute, monitoring, and security

  • Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and access controls

  • Investigate and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and remediation

  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, threat models, and user guides

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, client stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS

  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as:

    • JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js

    • Python

    • Java, Go, C#, Ruby

    • Bash / PowerShell

  • Practical experience with AWS services such as:

    • Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3

    • EventBridge, Step Functions

    • DynamoDB, SQS

    • CloudWatch, KMS

  • Experience provisioning infrastructure using IaC tools (e.g., CloudFormation; Terraform or CDK a plus)

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tooling (e.g., CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)

  • Strong understanding of cloud and application security, particularly for APIs and distributed systems

  • Experience using Git for source control

  • One or more AWS certifications (Associate level or higher) strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience building serverless architectures using AWS CDK

  • Experience designing and deploying REST APIs

  • Familiarity with identity and access protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID, SCIM

  • Experience supporting production cloud environments across multiple AWS accounts

  • Consulting or client-facing delivery experience

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • You can clearly explain which AWS services you’ve used and why

  • You’ve built and supported production systems, not just prototypes

  • You’re comfortable moving between infrastructure, application code, and pipelines

  • You understand how to balance security, scalability, and delivery speed

  • You take ownership when things break and communicate clearly during incidents

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
