Job Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate secure, stable, and scalable cloud environments that support mission-critical applications and delivery outcomes for Java/SpringBoot microservices and React micro frontends.
  • Own the AWS ECS application platform support model, partnering with engineering teams to ensure environments are available, performant, and ready for reliable deployments.
  • Implement and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and deployment workflows, enabling frequent and safe releases across environments.
  • Administer and support CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins and Spinnaker) and establish consistent deployment practices across teams and applications.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, product, design, and operations) to ensure smooth integration and deployment using DevOps practices.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying reliability/performance bottlenecks and enabling optimization for speed and scalability across services and user interfaces.
  • Support data-in-motion and data-access dependencies used by the application stack (e.g., Kafka and SQL) in partnership with application teams to reduce delivery friction.

  • Hands-on expertise with AWS (ECS) and supporting cloud-based applications end-to-end.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices, including pipeline tooling such as Jenkins and Spinnaker.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with globally distributed partners.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery models and working patterns.
  • Working understanding of SQL and Kafka dependencies commonly present in modern service architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with application teams building Java/SpringBoot microservices and React micro frontends, to align platform capabilities with application delivery needs.
  • Knowledge of banking operations and data, and/or supporting data-driven product delivery.
  • Ability to support AI-informed user experiences and understand agentic frameworks (prompting, workflows, tools), including Python/Java experience.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
