This is a paid internship, range of $22/hr - $39/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Sound Transit’s Information Technology department oversees tools and technologies our internal business teams use to transform and manage their business processes throughout the Puget Sound region – Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link. The Collaboration & Productivity Services Intern will support Sound Transit’s IT teams responsible for collaboration, productivity, and business transformation tools. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting user enablement, customer success activities, and the planning and execution of AI pilot programs across enterprise collaboration platforms. The intern will gain exposure to emerging AI technologies, training and communication strategies, Agile team practices, and technology evaluation within a large regional transit organization. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist with user communications, product updates, and learning content.
  • Help maintain FAQs, how-to guides, and training materials for collaboration and AI tools.
  • Support delivery of training sessions and user engagement activities.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting basic user needs, workflows, and use cases.
  • Support planning, execution, tracking, and documentation of AI pilot programs.
  • Assist with user onboarding, feedback collection, and pilot outcome reporting.
  • Support basic testing, analysis, and reporting related to AI pilots and tools.
  • Participate in team meetings and Agile ceremonies as a learning contributor.
  • Support special projects and respond to changing priorities.

POTENTIAL PROJECTS:

  • Creating customer success and learning content for collaboration tools.
  • Creating, supporting and managing AI pilot programs from kickoff through evaluation.
  • Completing short-term tasks to support the Collaboration & Productivity Services team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in Information Technology, Business, Communications, Learning Design, or a relevant two-year certificate. 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (academic or personal experience acceptable).
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Interest in customer success, technology adoption, and helping others.
  • Interest in AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform tools.
  • Experience creating instructional, training, or learning content.
  • Basic understanding of Agile or project-based work.
  • Exposure to AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar.
  • Basic data analysis or reporting experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • May be subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery when visiting job sites during construction and when working in the field.
