At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. We aim to drive a new paradigm for cancer management, guiding care from biopsy through the life of the patient. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Remote: Chicago preferred

Summary:

As the Commercial Analytics Manager, you will transform raw data into a strategic roadmap for growth. You aren't just reporting on what happened; you are developing key insights to drive our future strategy and predicting what will happen. You will be the primary architect of developing data driven strategic insights, development of growth forecasts, the auditor of our sales performance, and a key partner to Finance in designing incentive structures that drive high-performance behavior across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance data to develop a set of strategic insights to drive growth in business channels and clinical segments
  • Perform continuous analysis of internal sales data and external market trends to identify untapped territories or clinical segments
  • Build and maintain dashboards to monitor the sales funnel, identifying where leads are stalling and recommending tactical interventions.
  • Quantify the impact of competitor movements on our market share.
  • Own the weekly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasting process, ensuring high accuracy for executive leadership and board reporting.
  • Translate high-level corporate targets into equitable, data-driven quotas for individual territories and regions.
  • Develop "what-if" models to project the impact of new product launches, pricing changes, or expansion into new geographic markets.
  • Partner with Finance to design and manage the Sales Incentive Compensation (IC) plans that align rep behavior with company growth targets.
  • Conduct regular "stress tests" on compensation plans to ensure they are driving the intended results and remain competitive within the biotech industry.
  • Validate performance data to ensure accurate and timely commission calculations.

Requirements:

  • 8 years relevant work experience with 5+ years in Commercial Operations, Sales Analytics, or Finance, ideally within the Life Sciences, Molecular Diagnostics, or SaaS space.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (modeling) and CRM systems (Salesforce). Experience with BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI) or SQL is a significant plus.
  • Ability to look beyond the spreadsheets to understand the "story" the data is telling and present that story to executive leadership.
  • A "zero-error" mindset when it comes to compensation design and revenue forecasting.

The hiring range for this position is $136,000 to $160,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
