What we do

Kentik is seeking a highly skilled and business-minded Commercial Counsel to support our go-to-market organization and growing customer base. In this role, you will partner closely with our Sales, Finance, and Customer Success teams to negotiate and manage commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with Kentik’s business objectives while mitigating risk. This role will report directly to the CFO.

What you'll do

  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to the GTM functions
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial contracts, including MSAs, Professional Services agreements, NDAs, and other customer-facing agreements
  • Partner with sales and customer success teams to facilitate contract negotiations and ensure smooth deal flow
  • Develop and implement scalable processes and templates to drive efficiency in contract management and legal operations
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters related to customer agreements, including data privacy, security, and regulatory considerations
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure agreements align with company policies and revenue recognition requirements
  • Monitor evolving legal and regulatory trends in the SaaS industry and proactively recommend updates to contractual terms and business practices
  • Engage with and manage international legal partners when we need third party legal support in non-US jurisdictions.

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial transactions, preferably in-house at a SaaS or technology company
  • Strong negotiation skills with a practical, business-friendly approach to problem-solving
  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations such as GDPR and experience reviewing data protection language is a huge plus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Our compensation philosophy encompasses a fair program for all in order to attract, engage and retain talented individuals who will drive our business and wow our customers.

The compensation range for this position is: $187,000 - $240,000. This range reflects the low and high end of the U.S. compensation range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role. The actual compensation offered may be lower or higher than the stated range depending on various factors, including but not limited to:

  • Experience with the skill sets required for success
  • Demonstrated competencies and potential 
  • A geographic market-based approach
