CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Summer 2026 Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) Claims Intern out of our Seattle, WA office. This 12-week paid internship program provides students with the opportunity to gain corporate experience, get a first-hand look at the day-to-day operations of a Super Regional Insurance Company, and prepare students with the experience needed to have a rewarding career at CopperPoint.

Have you ever asked yourself, when an accident happens, how is the property owner or injured person compensated for their loss? Throughout this internship, you will see how an insurance company does just that in these scenarios.  You will learn about property, liability, and other commercial claims and how we protect and defend our policyholders. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of claims, where accidents, insurance coverage, and the legal system intersect.


In your role, you will support the Commercial P&C team by:

  • Collaborating with our claims adjusters to support investigations, which includes but is not limited to witnessing interviews, obtaining documentations, and conducting online research.
  • Evaluating property and injury claims. Providing recommendations to our adjusters regarding claim value and liability risks.
  • Working jointly with our claim adjusters and outside attorneys on the status and strategy of pending litigations.
  • Supporting adjusters in claims negotiations, attending mediation with claims adjusters, and participating in live high-stakes negotiations.
  • Reviewing insurance policies and identifying coverage issues to best determine coverage.
  • Analyzing, researching, and reviewing subrogation demands from other insurers.
  • Addition/Ad-hoc assistance as needed by the team.

As our ideal candidate, you are:

  • A current college undergraduate who is a resident of Seattle, WA, and/or is attending a school in Seattle, WA.
  • Comfortable with data and analyzing sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form.
  • Good Interpersonal skills to quickly develop trust, credibility, and respect from all levels of staff.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. Candidate must be detail oriented.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry post-graduation.

Additional Program Details:

  • Program Dates: May 26, 2026- August 14, 2026
  • Salary: $21.30 per hour
  • Travel Commitment: CopperPoint is thrilled to host all interns at our Phoenix, AZ office in June and August! This exciting, company-sponsored visit will focus on team building, training, and engagement activities, and conclude with a celebration of intern achievements.
  • Work Location: Hybrid- Seattle, WA
  • Time Commitment: 30 hours per week
  • Benefits: The intern will accrue 0.0692 of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour. The intern will be eligible to participate in CopperPoint’s matching 401(k) plan.
