Role Overview

The Commercial Training Specialist plays a critical support role in developing and delivering training programs that strengthen commercial capability and field execution. This role is suited for an emerging professional ready to expand their scope and ownership of defined training deliverables and contribute with growing autonomy.

The Specialist contributes directly to the creation of training content, supports onboarding and everboarding initiatives, coordinates program logistics, and gathers insights from the field to inform continuous improvement. Partners closely across the Commercial Training function to ensure high-quality, accurate, and learner-focused materials are aligned to program objectives and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support & Content Development

  • Contribute to the creation, organization, and maintenance of training content across instructor-led, self-guided, and digital learning formats.

  • Support the delivery of onboarding, everboarding, and ongoing capability-building programs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and readiness of materials.

  • Develop foundational training assets—including presentations, guides, and job aids—using established templates , instructional standards and learning objectives.

  • Manage program logistics such as scheduling, pre-work distribution, materials preparation, communications, and LMS updates.

Assessment & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and synthesize feedback from field teams, new hires, and training sessions to drive iterative improvements.

  • Track attendance, completion rates, and performance data; support analysis and reporting to identify trends and opportunities.

  • Maintain training content repositories, ensuring documents and resources reflect current messaging, product updates, and commercial strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Enablement, Marketing, Sales, Commercial Partners, Clinical, and Commercial Operations teams to verify content accuracy and maintain alignment with broader initiatives.

  • Support Commercial Field Training (CFT) efforts by preparing materials, capturing insights, and helping facilitate training activities.

Field Engagement

  • Participate in occasional field rides, under direction, to observe training application, gain exposure to commercial roles, and help identify capability gaps.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas such as Training & Development, Education, Communications, Business, Sales, Organizational Development, or life sciences discipline.

  • 2–4 years of experience in the pharma, biotech, medical device, diagnostics, or related healthcare industry; exposure to training, sales, or commercial support functions strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with emerging capability in facilitation and content creation.

  • Foundational project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and comfort with LMS platforms; experience with digital content design tools preferred.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
