Communications Manager – Cybersecurity
We are seeking a skilled Communications Manager with cybersecurity experience to elevate Checkmarx’s global visibility and strengthen our corporate narrative. The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with experience in global high-tech who thrives in fast-paced, news-driven environments and has a strong curiosity for emerging technology and the development lifecycle. This individual brings an understanding of application security, industry trends, and the competitive landscape, with a sharp focus on AI and its impact on enterprise security.
This role requires savvy networking, expert relationship-management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven success proactively navigating today’s fragmented media ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & PR Strategy
- Develop and execute global media strategies that elevate Checkmarx’s brand, leadership position, and product differentiation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key reporters, editors, and influencers across cybersecurity, AI, cloud, and enterprise technology.
- Craft high-impact media materials, including pitches, press releases, bylines, talking points, Q&As, presentations, and briefings.
- Identify and prepare spokespeople for interviews, thought leadership, and rapid-response opportunities.
- Manage regional PR agencies and coordinate global PR efforts.
Corporate & Executive Communications
- Maintain and evolve Checkmarx’s core brand narrative and messaging framework.
- Partner with subject matter experts to develop speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content.
- Develop and deliver internal communications for clarity and alignment across the company.
Cybersecurity & AI Thought Leadership
- Monitor global cybersecurity, development, and AI trends and translate insights into timely media commentary and storytelling.
- Provide strategic input on the competitive landscape and Checkmarx’s differentiated positioning.
Rapid Response & Research Activation
- Manage a global rapid-response PR program with agency partners, to monitor breaking news and coordinate fast-turn commentary with internal experts.
- Partner with research, product, and security teams to develop and promote research-driven PR campaigns.
Measurement & Reporting
- Track media coverage, sentiment, and performance, delivering actionable insights and recommendations.
- Conduct competitive media analysis to inform strategy and identify opportunities.
- 3-5 years of experience in media relations, PR, or corporate communications, preferably in high-growth technology.
- 1-2 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience, including AppSec, DevSecOps, security tooling, threat trends, and enterprise risk.
- Strong foundation in AI, including GenAI, agentic AI, AI security risks, and emerging threat vectors.
- Proven success building relationships with U.S. tech and security media.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with experience in research-driven and rapid-response messaging.
- Strong project management skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment (ET or CT preferred).
