ABOUT KALLES GROUP:

Everyone deserves to be secure. Our mission at Kalles Group is to help secure the future for companies of all shapes and sizes.

While our expertise spans multiple disciplines, our method remains consistent: building trust and relationship with people -- whether you are a client, a consultant, or--in this case--a candidate.

No matter what role you come from--whether you're an executive or just starting your career-you can expect our highest level of attention and respect. We want to find the right fit for each role, but we also want you to find the right fit for your career.

We believe the best way to show you what our team is like is to treat you like you're already a part of it. We hope you'll consider joining our team of experienced professionals who are building their careers at Kalles Group—and having fun while doing it.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

We’re seeking a hands-on Security Engineer with a DevOps mindset — someone who can think critically about how to secure large-scale digital platforms without compromising speed, usability, or customer experience.

This consultant will help build out a new security and compliance function at the edge of a major e-commerce environment. The team is fast-moving, collaborative, and focused on modernization — balancing strong security controls with a frictionless online experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and automate cloud and edge security solutions using modern tools like Terraform, Fastly, and Azure/GCP
  • Strengthen, streamline, and monitor systems that support high-volume online platforms
  • Evaluate and balance risk tolerance vs. performance and usability, helping define what the “right” blend looks like
  • Lead efforts to modernize CDN and WAF technologies, including migration from legacy systems to Fastly
  • Collaborate with Architecture, InfoSec, and Development teams to review designs, make recommendations, and implement secure, scalable infrastructure
  • Apply strong engineering fundamentals to build automated, resilient, and secure systems — not just policies or audits

ABOUT YOU:

Your values:

  • Integrity: You believe in doing the right thing, even when it's uncomfortable, seemingly inefficient, or costly.
  • Purposefulness: You have a desire to serve others with your skillset and an openness to continuous learning and growth.
  • Ownership: You stick to your commitments, follow up with action, and seek clarity in communication & expectations.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years in security engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure security roles
  • Proven ability to design and implement security solutions for large-scale or customer-facing platforms
  • Strong background in cloud environments (Azure, GCP, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or comparable tools)
  • Familiarity with CDN or WAF technologies (Fastly, Akamai, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of web application and network security principles
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills — able to bridge gaps between development, architecture, and security teams

We’d Be Thrilled If You Have:

  • Experience migrating or optimizing CDN/WAF environments, particularly with Fastly
  • Background in automation, scripting, or observability (Python, Dynatrace, etc.)
  • Exposure to risk assessment, fraud prevention, or compliance frameworks
  • Prior experience in a DevSecOps or site reliability role
  • A thoughtful, pragmatic approach to balancing security with business needs

WHAT SUCCESS IN THE ROLE LOOKS LIKE:

  • Security controls and automation are seamlessly integrated without slowing user experience or delivery.
  • Cloud and edge platforms are stable, well-monitored, and resilient against emerging threats.
  • Strong collaboration and trust are built across development, architecture, and security teams to drive secure, scalable solutions.

 WHAT WE OFFER:

The annual salary range for this role is $130,000-$165,000.

LOCATION:

This role requires on-site presence at our client's location in Issaquah, WA.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please fill out the form below (including uploading your most recent resume) and we'll be in touch! We know imposter syndrome can be a barrier to many great applicants. We hope you'll still consider applying. That's why we've made the application process as short and simple as possible.

Even if you're not a fit for the role, you can expect to hear back from us! We want you to have the best experience as a candidate, so please feel free to share feedback at any stage of the process to [email protected].

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
