The Position:

This a remote position based in the United States. 

The Contracts Counsel is responsible for all aspects of drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on Veracyte’s contracts.  This position will lead the Legal team’s review of vendor agreements, CLIA laboratory services agreements, IVD sales agreements, and biopharma customer agreements.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading improvements to Veracyte’s contract management system (currently Ironclad)
  • Developing templates and playbooks
  • Working with business partners to identify and mitigate contractual risks
  • Collaborating with the Deputy General Counsel and Sr. Corporate Counsel on Veracyte’s contract policies and procedures
  • Supporting colleagues who are responsible for NDAs, research collaboration agreements, and managed care contracts

This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel based in San Francisco.

Qualifications:
  • JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership, with at least 8 years of legal experience
  • Life sciences (diagnostic, medical device, CRO, biotech or pharma) experience required
  • In-house experience at a global corporation required
  • Exceptional legal drafting skills with an affinity for using language to achieve compromise
  • Ability to analyze complex business and legal issues/risks in order to advance practical solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take a business and client-focused approach to difficult decisions – including thinking “outside the box” on practical solutions
  • Able to engage team members in order to achieve objectives
  • Strong prioritization skills; ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
