Your Job:

As the Contracts Manager at Brooks, you will serve as a key partner to our business stakeholders on commercial contracting. This role is ideal for an experienced contracts professional with a strong procurement and buy-side contracting background who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements while helping build and optimize our legal operations infrastructure. You will also play an important role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the contracts team by optimizing processes, implementing and managing legal technology solutions, and monitoring overall contract activity.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, services contracts, order forms, renewals, statements of work, hotel and hospitality agreements, and other low-to-moderate risk commercial contracts.
  • Triage incoming contract requests, assign work to attorneys based on capacity and expertise, and coordinate workflow to ensure competing priorities and deadlines are met.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle, ensuring timely turnaround and accurate documentation.
  • Partner with business and finance teams to support buying and vendor management activities.
  • Serve as a trusted, accessible point of contact for internal stakeholders, providing practical guidance on contract terms and risk, as well as ad-hoc training and support related to the Brooks contract process.
  • Administer and continuously improve our contract management and workflow system, including template management, clause libraries, reporting, and automated routing.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, templates, and standard fallback positions for recurring agreement types.
  • Be a champion for a better, faster and simpler way of doing things, regularly identifying and implementing improvements to the contracting process.
  • Support legal operations initiatives, including process documentation, training materials, and system integrations.
  • Escalate higher-risk and non-standard issues to senior legal team members with clear summaries and recommended paths forward.
  • Train business teams on legal processes and key contract provisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; equivalent combination of education and years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree(s)
  • 5+ years of experience working with an in-house legal team in contract management or procurement
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating NDAs, vendor agreements, SOWs, order forms, and similar commercial contracts
  • Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, or administering a contract lifecycle management (CLM) or workflow system (e.g., Lexion, Agiloft, Icertis, or similar)
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload and manage short- and long-term projects
  • Curious and open-minded; always up for a challenge, inventive, and creative
  • Detail oriented; strong organizational and time management skills are a must
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment, anticipating and resolving problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots”
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust, resulting in effective working relationships across the stores and company; service-oriented mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization, and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another
  • Embraces and lives the Brooks values!

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
