Job Description

This is a managerial level position responsible for the company’s financial and administration operations. Provide overall leadership in financial matters, budgeting support, systems integration, and reporting. The client should be viewed by their investors, customers, and employees as having finance and reporting operations that are streamlined and high-quality.

This is a full time or part time position working as a Kranz Consulting employee providing consulting services to our clients. The Controller role is a hands-on position that works very closely with our client companies and their senior management.

Responsibilities include:

· Plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions.

· Establish and manage the month-end close process.

· Establish and manage a system of internal and accounting controls.

· Experience working with foreign subsidiaries and foreign currency accounting.

· Financial consolidations of multiple entities with intercompany journal entries.

· Equity Management:

o Ensure the proper recording of all equity activity in the balance sheet and reconciliation to the capitalization table. Ensure tax compliance with the issuance of ISO’s and NSO’s for all Stock based equity transactions.

· Treasury:

o Maintain and manage the cash records for the company, ensure proper reconciliation of all cash accounts with bank and project future cash forecasts.

o Monitor and maintain all subsidiary ledgers for customer activities and ensure timely collection.

· Revenue Recognition:

o Ensure timely billing and accuracy of invoicing for all revenue and

proper accounting treatment as per the company policy on revenue recognition.

o Analyze customer contracts, establish and maintain a process to monitor and report revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.

o Manage and reconcile deferred revenue schedules to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Manage annual financial statement audit with external auditors and oversee the transition from a modified GAAP to a full GAAP basis.

· Reporting and tax compliance:

o Tax filings - Ensure timely filing of all regulatory reporting including sales and use, local, and state taxation forms. Familiarity with R&D tax credit program including accounting and required materials for the tax preparer.

· Partner with the FP&A team or assist in the preparation of the company’s actual performance against the budget and business plan, present financial reporting package to client engagement management.

· Liaise with staff, Kranz CFOs and client to ensure proper alignment of responsibilities and expected deliverables.

· Maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors including auditors, tax providers, banks, investor reporting and compliance agencies.

Experience and Skills required:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA desired.

· Minimum 3+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a small start-up company

· Proven management and interpersonal skills.

· Proven experience leading, supporting and developing accounting teams.

· Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures

· Proficiency with accounting and transaction systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Bill.com, Expensify etc…)

· Strong financial reporting and accounting skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to understand priorities and anticipate business issues

· A hard-working, dependable, self-starter who can work well independently and with a team
