About Filmhub 🎬

Filmhub is a global, all rights, film & TV distributor. Leveraging decades of industry expertise and a legacy of billions of dollars in global box office, we distribute unlimited opportunity to the storytellers, creatives, and makers who drive our industry.

Filmhub was founded by world-renowned composer and producer Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator) and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Alan d’Escragnolle (Square, Intuit) and funded by the top investors in tech & entertainment including a16z & 8VC.

Pairing a global network of strategic relationships with cutting-edge technology, we represent the industry’s leaders, from producers of global blockbusters to Oscar legends, festival darlings, cinema auteurs, and indie heroes.

What's the opportunity? 🤔

We’re looking for an experienced Copywriter who deeply understands the film industry to join our team. This is a full-time role for someone passionate about the art of storytelling and the business of distribution.

As a Copywriter at Filmhub, you’ll create engaging, informed, and persuasive content for multiple platforms, helping us strengthen our position as a leader in modern film distribution. You’ll work on web copy, press releases, sales materials, and social media campaigns, bringing Filmhub’s voice and mission to life for filmmakers, rights holders, and industry professionals worldwide.

What will I be doing? 💡

Web & Email Copywriting: Create dynamic, impactful content for Filmhub’s website, email campaigns, and newsletters to engage and inform industry professionals.

Press Releases: Craft professional press releases that announce Filmhub’s achievements, acquisitions, and partnerships, aligning with industry standards.

Sales & Marketing Materials: Develop polished pitch decks, sales one-sheets, and presentations to showcase Filmhub’s value to filmmakers, distributors, and strategic partners.

Social Media Content: Write compelling, platform-specific content to drive engagement and grow Filmhub’s presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and more.

Storytelling: Translate complex industry concepts, like rights licensing or film market dynamics, into captivating narratives for diverse audiences.

Industry Insight: Leverage your knowledge of film rights, theatrical distribution, sales agents vs. distributors, and film markets/festivals to ensure accuracy and authenticity in all materials.

What skills do I need?📖

Industry Expertise: You have an in-depth understanding of the film business, including rights, licensing, theatrical distribution, and global film markets. Deep familiarity with IFTA is essential. Strong understanding of how film markets (e.g., Cannes, TIFF, AFM) operate differently from festivals.

Proven Experience: You’ve written for respected publications such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, or equivalent outlets. A portfolio showcasing work for industry publications, press releases, or marketing campaigns.

Storytelling Skills: Exceptional ability to craft concise, impactful narratives for press releases, web copy, email campaigns, and social media.

Creative Problem Solving: You can turn technical and industry-specific information into content that inspires and engages.

Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in cross-functional teams and can align content with broader marketing, PR, and sales goals.

Location: Ideally based in Los Angeles or New York City, with an understanding of the local film industry ecosystems.

How can I stand out? 📣

Here are a few ways you can differentiate yourself as a candidate:

• Share a story or experience: Mention a time you wrote for an industry-leading publication (Variety, Deadline, etc.) or successfully crafted a press release that landed media attention.

• Highlight your passion: Talk about your excitement for empowering filmmakers and transforming distribution.

• Include a diverse mix of your work: Press releases, articles, sales materials, and social media campaigns. If possible, feature examples related to film rights, licensing, or distribution.

• Create a mini case study: Briefly explain the impact of a project—e.g., how your writing contributed to audience engagement, sales growth, or media coverage.

• Research recent Filmhub achievements or acquisitions and mention them in your application.

• Reference current trends in film distribution (e.g., how global streaming is reshaping rights licensing) and tie them back to how you can contribute.

• Consider creating a mock press release as part of your application. Write a punchy, hypothetical announcement for Filmhub acquiring a high-profile indie title for global streaming rights. Show your industry knowledge, attention to tone, and storytelling skills.

Filmhub, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. We will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on any of these characteristics.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.
