General Motors seeks a Cost Engineer based out of our office at 29755 Louis Chevrolet Road, Warren, MI 48093. This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. This position requires domestic travel, as needed, up to 15%. JOB DUTIES: Calculate ground-up / detailed material cost estimates that encompass both piece price estimations and production tooling estimations. Create, analyze and validate component material and tooling costs and compare to corresponding supplier quotes. Provide accurate cost estimates and relevant cost reduction proposals for assigned commodities. Analyze, organize, and understand large amounts of data. Be an active partner with the internal GPSC purchasing team - aid in providing a fair yet competitive component cost for GM. Support the assigned GM Interior Seat SMT from a tooling and piece price perspective, which may include seat trim, seat components, seat assembly, and safety components (belts, retractors, airbags)

Bachelor's degree Industrial Engineering or related field of study and Three years of experience in the job offered or related occupation in automotive cost estimating, automotive manufacturing, automotive product design / engineering, or automotive purchasing. Experience must include: Experience in the financial evaluation of technical concepts and automotive manufacturing production processes. Experience managing multiple projects and
assignments. Experience in a leading role. Experience working with cost data and working with cross-functional team. Experience with data driven analysis. Experience identifying solutions
and establishing next steps to assigned projects. Experience with Microsoft Office software and MS Excel. Experience with cost estimating software and data analytics tools.
